What is the tallest van manufactered?

Is there a van taller than the Mercedes 3500/4500 with a long base wheel option? I'm looking for the tallest and longest van I can buy within a budget of around $20,000. As of right now the biggest I've seen is the Mercedes, but is there an even bigger van that has been produced? I'm not going with a box truck, school bus, or any other cargo vehicle because I like the cab seating being elevated from the rest of the truck since I'm planning on having it swivel 180 degrees. submitted by /u/LettuceNatural4432 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Cable routing from engine compartment to DC:DC converter on Econoline?

Hi all - getting to the latter stages of build out on a 2006 Ford E350. Wondered if folks could help me out with what I'd assume is a pretty common issue - how do people generally route cable from the van battery back to a DC:DC converter in the main body of the van? I initially assumed there would be some locations within the bulkhead/firewall that would allow you to run cable from the engine compartment back, but from poking around today, nothing jumps out at me as an obvious solution. My van battery and my power set up is all on the passenger side of the van so looking for solutions on the ..read more

Window Insulation idea... better than reflectix.

This is for those who want their windows "permanently" insulated. Buy high quality (rueben) packing tape and place on window and around window frame so that glass is entirely covered. Using Gorilla construction adhesive, glue on 1/2 inch polystyrene cut into strips 1inch in depth. Glue a strip of this every 2 or 3 inches. Let dry. Apply spray foam between the strips so that its about 1 or 1.5 inches in depth. The strips should keep the spray foam from dripping down. Once dry, trim the spray foam so that the surface is relatively even... using a razor. On the outside of the window appl ..read more

Toilet paper in cassette toilet?
Reddit » Vandwellers

New travel nurse who just bought a Toyota camroad. I’ve done months long car camping around the U.S. and never had to worry about the things that go along with a campervan like the cassette toilets and dump stations. When I was young my parents made us put our toilet paper in a garbage can instead of the toilet, little different since it wasn’t a cassette toilet. Should I be putting toilet paper in my cassette toilet? Is there something people put in the toilet for smell? Thanks in advance ! submitted by /u/Pretty-Collection446 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Took pic of license plate at Cabelas

So I have a small van that I live in/camp half the time and I was parked at eleven thirty in the morning on a Sunday at Cabelas in the RV section of the parking lot because that’s where I saw other vans. I was super tired and had just pulled over to nap for a while. I guess a worker there in one of those small golf cart caddies with the back bed on it drove up behind me and took a pic of my license plate. I left immediately after but I was wondering did their policy change? Can I only stay at Cabelas at night? I’m confused. submitted by /u/Significant-Net5335 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

After much struggle to remove the original flatbed from the truck, we’ve officially mounted the box to the truck. Last time I posted here, we were thinking of using an Isuzu NPR platform but we’ve pivoted to the ford f550 4x4! Still tons to do, but it feels great to finally have it mounted. submitted by /u/Thunderflipper [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Apprehensive Aussie planning for Vanning in the USA

So this is what I’m used to. Free Camps, Free Toilets, Free of People. But I will be going to the U.S. for four years for work. I love camping but frankly, the density of people in America scares the crap out of me. I want to camp all over the American wilderness but I figured swag or tent camping leaves me vulnerable. I don’t want to wake up and find that someone has taken whatever the exchange rate hadn’t stolen already. I also want at least 2mm of metal sheet between me and horny bears or whatever and so I’m going to get a van. So how many assault rifles do I need and what else should ..read more
