For van dwellers with fiberglass high tops.... How much did you worry about getting rid of ALL the fiberglass dust when cutting/building?

Have an e250 extended high top and during the build I've had to cut quite a bit of fiber glass. My hightop was double shelled when I bought it (outer shell and inner shell with insulation in between). I cut out the inner shell and created a shit ton of fiberglass dust. I've already spent hours cleaning the inside multiple times and I've got rid of the majority of the dust, but a bit remains in random places. Is it ok to have a small amount of fiberglass dust around the van? I'll probably be covering up most of these spots with flooring, walls, ect. submitted by /u/-_43_- [visit reddit] [comm ..read more

My 3-pronged 30 watt power cord has spiked probes and I need an adapter to use my generator

Hey guys. I'm a complete neophyte when it comes to RVs. I purchased a 2011 Ford Transit Connect yesterday. It has a 30 amp power cord. The probes on the end of the power cord have a spiked appearance. I'm aware that I need a female 30 amp to 15 amp adapter to use my generator. I went by Harbor Freight to buy this type of adapter but it didn't fit my power cord. Is there a particular make of adapter that I need to purchase? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks. https://preview.redd.it/9zjehkiimgwc1.jpg?width=6774&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9922ee85f86a2a62dce95a1f5826dcf1d6e70 ..read more

Thoughts on the Joolca GottaGo toilet vs. other separaters?

I started doing research on portable toilets (have never owned one) and came across the Joolca Gottago. I have young kids and a mix of boys/girls, so we produce a lot of waste*.* I wanted a separating toilet for this reason. We also don't live on the road. This will primarily be used on weekend camping trips, so we'll be using bags for #2s and not a tank or compost. Toilet will be setup outside. I was originally leaning toward something like the Trelino, but the Joolca popped up in my research. Apart from their videos, I haven't been able to find any objective info on it. I pre-ordered it, th ..read more

Vantopia Reviews

We were in line to have our van custom built but the builder backed out on us. Everybody I've contacted has a multiple-month wait list, so we're looking at using Vantopia kits to build it out ourselves. Has anybody used this? How easy/hard is it, and how many extra things will we ned to buy on top of it? (ex. I don't think it comes with a mattress or a toilet). TIA! submitted by /u/Sweetcornprincess [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Around May 6th I am leaving St Louis to head to Washington for the summer. My van is pretty much packed and aside from a few loose ends I’m so ready to hit the road. Right now im in the route planning of my up and coming trip. So far I’m figuring to take around 10 days to get to Washington. I need to be there by May 23rd so I have plenty of time. I’m a big camera geek and it been far too long since I’ve really had a chance to use my cameras. I would really love to get back into my night photography practice again. I’d like to hear from people that have done this trip. Maybe just get a heads u ..read more

Aux batt seperate from main

Alright, so I want to have an auxiliary for my work truck. I do not own it, so I won't do a legit set up that connects to the main battery and/or alternater. I'm looking for something simple. An agm or battery box that is charged by one of those harbor freight solar trickle charger? a small power station that has a couple options for charging? i want to power one of those 12v coolers since we are sent out of town a number of times throughout the year. I'm new to this stuff, and I will eventually have a better set up in the van. I figure getting this together will be a good learning experience ..read more

Power Needs for Alpicool C15 (Non-Solar)

Narrowed down my fridge needs to the Alpicool C15 outfitted in a Subaru Outback. Trying to avoid solar, but after rough math. (~60w) 5amps running for ~16 hours a day inches a little over 1kwh. Is there a power bank one could recommend that could power the C15 for a few days without a recharge? I have an EcoFlow River2 for charging tech, but could use some help narrowing down the power needs for the fridge. Thanks a million! submitted by /u/Gignac1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
