It has been quite a while since we have connected through this page, and we have missed the community we built here together! Unfortunately, the time has come for both of us to move on to independent ventures, but what a wonderful chapter this has been! We have enjoyed getting to meet and connect with so many readers, other bloggers, Boston-based businesses, artists, and institutions, and we were so glad we could use this space to shed light on all the amazing people this city holds. Thank you to you all!
You will still find us occasionally at the @bostondaybook instagram page, as well as thr ..read more

Things are finally looking up for us in Massachusetts, and it feels like the end of the pandemic may be in sight! More and more people are getting vaccinated, and we are getting excited about being able to return to some of our favorite local spots that we have missed so much this past year. In particular, we have really missed visiting our local museums.
However, one thing the last few months has shown us is that while being somewhere in-person is unique, there are still so many things we can do online that we had never tried before. Businesses and institutions have really shown their creativ ..read more

I am so excited to share our kitchen renovation reveal with you today! If you have been following along for awhile, you will know that this has been a long project (you can read more about it here and here) and a real labor of love. A kitchen renovation is no small feat, especially when it involves taking down walls, moving windows/doors, and going to the studs.
We have done smaller renovations in the past like re-doing a bathroom and installing built-in bookcases, but nothing of this magnitude. There were many moments where I felt totally overwhelmed and had serious decision fatigue…which is ..read more

It’s been a whirlwind nine weeks since Nolan Paul arrived! He is such a little sweetheart, and we are all enamored with him, including Serena, who has been taking her big sister role very seriously. ;) We are also soooo tired. Although it had only been five years since we had a newborn baby, I have to say I had blocked some things out, like the constant nursing and phases when babies don’t let you put them down. With a older child to take care of and a shoulder injury this time around, that has been so challenging. For the last five weeks, Nolan has been super fussy especially at night f ..read more

This post is in partnership with Own Up, a company that we really like.
There are some aspects of adulting that still feel intimidating. With COVID, everyone is spending more time at home these days, and lately we’ve been delving back into the world of mortgages and real estate, as we start to outgrow our space. We own the apartment we live in currently, and moved here seven years ago. It has been a perfect place to live as a couple, and then with one small child. We have 2 bedrooms, but the second bedroom is quite petite, and more suited to a toddler bed than to a twin bed. At 755 square fee ..read more

A few months ago, we made some updates to our bedroom. We had a gas fireplace that ate up a big part of the room and it made it hard to find a wall for our king-sized bed, which we weren’t willing to part with! This was the room before…
Aside from the bed not having a good wall to be pushed up against, I didn’t love the Shoji screen paper on the closet doors. I wanted to make the closet doors white so they would match the wall.
Our contractor started by removing the gas insert, and creating a new wall. We couldn’t remove the entire chimney, so there had to be a small bump out.

Did you watch the inauguration? It was so hopeful and inspiring, and it felt like such a relief to see it!! The poem from Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet, was so touching. I loved this part especially:
The hill we climb
If only we dare
It’s because being American is more than a pride we inherit,
it’s the past we step into
and how we repair it
We’ve seen a force that would shatter our nation
rather than share it
Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy
And this effort very nearly succeeded
But while democracy can be periodically delayed
it can never be permanently de ..read more

Wow, what a strange few days, huh? What happened this week at the Capitol was really surreal and unnerving. While in some ways it wasn’t surprising, I still could not believe the images of people breaking windows and scaling walls to break into the Capitol. The peaceful transition of power is one of the hallmarks of American democracy, and to see that tradition put into jeopardy is really hard to stomach. I hope this will be a wakeup call to some politicians about the power of their words, and we are looking forward to a new administration that values democracy above their own power. I t ..read more

This year, the holidays will be so different. We know that the safest thing to do is to continue to socially distance and only socialize with people who share our household, unless able to do a true quarantine period before merging bubbles. While this has been tough for all these months, the arrival of the holidays make it feel a little harder. However we are happy to keep it up in order to be able to celebrate all together next year! How sweet it will feel to be together in person again!
In the meantime, here are some ways we are planning to celebrate the holidays at home this year.

I can’t believe the last blog post I wrote about our renovation is from August… which is basically when we started demo. Over on Instagram, I have shared a lot behind the scenes, but I wanted to share an update here as well. A few months back, I also shared inspiration for this renovation, which is so interesting to look at now that we are almost at the finish line.
We are in month five of renovation, and I am eager to get things wrapped up. We were hoping to be done by Christmas, but our new goal is to be finished by February 1. I shared on Instagram that we have been staying at our house dur ..read more
