Hello! I'm excited to share my new book with you. It's called "Tales of Thoughtfulness: A Kid's Guide to Happiness," and it's available on Audible. This isn't just any book—it's designed to promote inclusivity and moral education for children, especially those with reading disabilities like dyslexia. As a parent and someone who has experienced reading challenges myself, I wanted to create a book that everyone can enjoy. "Tales of Thoughtfulness" contains stories that focus on mindfulness, empathy, and compassion. The book uses clear language and simple sentence structures, making it accessibl ..read more

Does refreshing a book cover after a couple of years help sales?

I should note this is advice I've read elsewhere, and was curious to know if anyone here had quantifiable experience and/or evidence that this is the case. After all, in the traditional publishing world, successful books are often re-released with a new cover, and their publishers presumably aren't doing it without a very good reason. I had a book out a couple of years ago that did very well, and the cover was great. I'm now (after various delays) writing two sequels back to back with the intention of releasing them within three or six months of each other, depending which turns out to be the ..read more

Has anyone heard of this? I was trying to increase my reach before I release my novel and found this website. It seems quite positive. But with most overly positive things, I assume it's a scam. Has anyone heard of it or have used it? Do you recommend I try it? submitted by /u/dromdil [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are there any successful NON romance self pubslished authors here ?

First of all, let me start by saying. This is not a post to bash romance. That's not what I am asking or suggesting at all. Respect to all the successful romance authors here. I respectfully envy your success?. It's just that, both on here and in the Facebook groups...whenever someone makes a post about moderate success or huge success with their writing.. it almost always turns out to be romance. It almost feels kinda discouraging if you write other genres. Is there any market for horror ? Is there any market for YA adventure books ? Science fiction ? Or do people only spend money on romance ..read more

Desperate for some help fixing KDP trim issues.

My novel keeps getting denied on KDP due to some unseen issue. The email I get back is: We checked your files and found issues you need to fix before your book can be published on KDP: "Interior: Add 0.125" (3.2 mm) to your book's page width and 0.25" (6.4 mm) to the page height to ensure that the images in your manuscript extend beyond the edge of the page. Once you have added the size, extend any images or backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents manufacturing issues when the file is trimmed to size. See examp ..read more

AI spam in ebook stores is a baseless fear

Some author friends of mine are worried about AI generated books spamming the kindle store and drowning out the real ones. They are afraid that it will get harder for human authors to get their books in front of the eyes of customers. But I simply don't see it! I have checked multiple categories, sorted by new release. There are of course many terrible low quality books, as they have been for many years now. But I don't see much evidence for a wave of AI spam. Am I blind? Are you noticing AI books taking over the new releases in your niches? Or is my assumption correct that this just a basele ..read more

Are big publishing houses going to train/finetune their own AI to write books and cut out the authors?

I'm sure that with today's level of AI, it's not feasible to write a good book, at least not without extremely heavy interaction with a competent human co-author and editor. Nevertheless, I am wondering if big publishing houses are waiting for the moment when AI becomes good enough that they can finetune a large language model on the hundreds of books they have the commercial rights to, and try to churn out books generated by it. Even if the model can't write a book on its own, it might be feasible if paired with one author, who might have 5x the productivity than a normal author had before ..read more
