Super Something FAQ's or something.

This Super Something is Sklar’s new production steel gravel frameset. Since they went up for pre-sale in October we have been getting a few questions about frame details. Here are some answers to a few FAQs as you get your builds ready: What type of brakes can I run? The SuperSomething ships ready to run post mount brakes. These are the brakes that we love for all of our personal builds because of their ease of adjustment, power and versatility. If you would like to run flat mount brakes, you will need to order a flat mount rocker for the brake side dropout and a flat mount carbon fork for ..read more

Steve's Super Something Coaster Brake Build
Sklar
by Adam Sklar

Steve has been a part of the Sklar brand from the get-go. Not only have we shared a space (Steve is one of the owners at Alter Cycles, our beloved neighbor) for the past 7 years, but Steve designed the logo that graces this bike. So when I didn’t have a home for this 60CM Super Something sample, it was obvious who it had to go to. Steve decided to build it up as his new townie bike! An incredibly simple and clean coaster brake bike for cruising the streets and really cool trails we have all over Bozeman. Steve went with a crank and headset from White Industries, a suped up Shimano CB110 hub on ..read more

Bud's Performance Basket Jammer

Bud has been commuting around town on an unmistakable crusty Austro Daimler coaster brake bike as long as I can remember, and with a big bike tour on the horizon it was time to upgrade to something that could serve as both an every day commuter and a big trip bike… and also some trail riding! The PBJ seemed to fit the bill just right and this is what we came up with. A very nice build on the PBJ chasis. Brakes and stem from PAUL, my fave teravail tires, White Industries headset, a nice Ti post… what’s not to love? Here it is. The first Super Something to be built up at Sklar Bikes HQ. I haven’t been super vocal with this project yet as it is a bit of a departure from how we have done things in the past and I want to make sure that it gets done just right. This frame and fork was designed by myself and manufactured in Taiwan. This frame is one of a handful of samples I received to review before green-lighting a large order of frames that should land at my shop Fall 2022. If you have followed Sklar for long, or have any insight into the custom frame building process, you might know that it is rather metic ..read more

Brian's Performace Basket Jammer

The PBJ! It is your go-to. The trusty sandwich that never lets you down, and the bike that does it all. All said and done, the Performace Basket Jammer is really a cross country mountain bike, but don?"t let that fool you, it wants to do all the types of riding. Optimized for a 2.6? tire but happy running skinnier, this bike is here for day-long excursions, neighborhood trail hot laps, or multi-week expeditions. The playful and nimble geometry takes a hint from the things we have learned from modern forward geometry mountain bikes that make the bike stable and planted when loaded down for tour ..read more
