The new brick-and-mortar location of The Blind Goat from MasterChef season three winner and New York Times best-selling cookbook author Christine Hà and her husband, John Suh, is now in its soft opening phase at 8145 Long Point in Spring Branch Village. (Hà is also co-owner of Xin Chào, along with chef Tony Nguyen of Saigon House, and they are among the Houston restaurants and chefs who were recently named 2023 James Beard Semifinalists.) The 2023 edition of the eagerly anticipated annual Houston event, The Truffle Masters, is happening on Monday, March 6 at The Revaire, located at 7122 Old Katy Road. This tasting event and chef competition was founded by Diane Roederer, owner of Houston-based luxury food purveyor DR Delicacy, and features highly coveted fresh, black truffles. When 250 different barbecue teams are competing, as was the case this year at the 2023 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, only a very small percentage can emerge as winners. Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar, the longtime neighborhood dive and live music venue located at 1031 East 24th in Sunset Heights, quietly reopened this month.
