In my previous report, on #22 Ice Floes scenario, I mentioned that our Drifter achieved the requirements for the retirement. Actually, almost achieved because as it occurred, he has to play couple of scenarios in order to fully achieve this and be able to change the character. So, it was pretty obvious, that this week we will be playing exactly the adventure which will help him in reaching this goal!
Our Frosthaven Campaign in scenario order:
#1 Town in Flames
#2 Algox Scouting
#4 Heart of Ice
#5 Frozen Crypt
#7 Edge of the World
#8 Crystal Trench
#13 Frozen Fjord
#14 Jagged Shoal ..read more

Stalingrad Advance to the Volga, 1942 puts the player in charge of the attacking and at the same time far more mobile German side while the game system handles the defending and largely static Soviet side. Believe me, no two games will ever be the same as disposition and composition of defenders will vary. Each turn represents new and unique challenges for the player in the form of random events (very painful), uncertain supply deliveries and unknown Soviet area strength and defensive strategies.
The below material will guide you through main game mechanics as well as example couple of tu ..read more

With this material I am starting a fantastic journey with a new publisher – VUCA Simulations. I am really glad to see another company producing great designs for our wargaming hobby – and what is even better for me, located in Europe! I am sure this will not be the last title I am talking about
So what do we have today on the roster? Traces of War is a two-player game that simulates the intense fighting between Axis and Soviet forces after the battle of Kursk during August 1943 to March 1944. A major Soviet offensive is launched against a German mobile defense which almost results in sim ..read more

There are wargames which pertain to old times, like antiquity and Julius Caesar endeavors, Middle Ages and Hundred Years War or great exploits of Napoleon Bonaparte in XIX century. For all of us these are some episodes form history books, which happened a long time ago and can be subject of interest, easily transferable to game board.
However, there are also much recent and fresh conflicts, to which many people were witnesses to or simply took part in them. I remember as a teenager, when the communism was falling in my home Poland as well as whole Eastern Europe, we started to hear about the p ..read more

The CDG Solo System is a revised GMT Edition of Stuka Joe’s CDG solo method, which streamlines two-handed solitaire gameplay by decreasing turn to turn overhead and maintenance. Commands & Colors Samurai Battles is the newest GMT’s installment in the series, taking us to the medieval Japan.
When those two system met – despite the fact CCSB is a two deck-game – we got finally a pretty elegant way of playing solo; the method allows for hand size difference, limited visibility to what opponent does but also high flexibility on the player side how to shape the gameplay. In below mate ..read more

I am always eager to try new solitaire wargames; that appetite for this type of play definitely intensified for me during the pandemic times; currently I find it very addictive to try to outsmart the AI which is preventing my victory on board – you can see more and more such materials create and posted on my blog and YouTube channel.
Thus, it is always a great joy for me to check the new titles from (new to me) publishers – in this case, Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga, 1942 by Revolution Games. And you know what is best in such case? When your expectation are multiple times exceeded by the a ..read more
