Hello! I bought a cheap “greenhouse” thing off Amazon for my indoor house plants. I would much rather keep them inside but that isn’t an option as of right now due to space and cats. I’m here asking for suggestions or tips on how to keep my plants safe while they are in there temporarily, until I can actually get them a proper greenhouse. I have a small heater that is keeping it warm on colder nights, but I’m finding it hard to keep heat in when it’s not sunny out. Today was the first time it’s actually rained since I put it up and there is a lot of condensation on the walls, none of my ..read more

I have a small, wooden greenhouse that I use in the spring/summer. The wooden frame stays up year-round. In the spring, I add a plastic covering over the roof and a third of way down the sides to protect from rain. I’ve been looking for ways to a) more easily and sturdily secure the plastic covering b) allow us to have roll-up sides on the long sides. Narrow ends of greenhouse would stay open. I uploaded a very poor sketch of what this would look like. Green outlines the roll-up sides. Above that (starting at line “A” and over roof), it’ll be covered with plastic sheeting. I’m thinking o ..read more

Got power to the greenhouse!

I got electricity to the greenhouse today and spent two hours putting together the potting table. When I had the power routed I also got an electrical box wired in the ceiling should I ever want to put a big light in. Thinking about blacking it out this winter and putting in a grow light with space heater. Thoughts on that? I have a humidifier inbound as well. I live at 5500 feet and low humidity. https://preview.redd.it/a8vhvzd4dpwc1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9634c42f19928d14758e11169757a5d2b8933e62 submitted by /u/Skimballs [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! I just finished building an enclosed garden 6ft tall 8ft long and 8ft wide. Wondering if I should build my green house right next to it or should I space them apart? It would be the same in size. Also where could I find windows or am I better off buying them new? And which windows might I be looking for? Thank you in advance! ?? submitted by /u/she-ambitious [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I rent a property with a looot of land and the owners told me to do whatever i want with the yard. I have a lot of tropical indoor plants but this new place doesn’t have enough windows for all of them. I want to buy a greenhouse structure like this one from Walmart. Its 6’ x 12’ and seems to have good reviews. However i live in Maryland with unpredictible winters. I can’t imagine the electricity bill if i got a greenhouse heater so that’s out of the question. Would it be possible to keep the inside of the greenhouse a comfy 70-75° in the winter? If so, how? Or should i not even bother pu ..read more

Bug control

I have a small greenhouse in the back of my house that’s pretty protected from the elements, but I’ve been noticing a huge increase of all sorts of flies, gnats and aphids on the plants and in the soil. I put a carnivorous plant in there and have been spraying with neem oil almost every day. Does anyone have any tips for keeping the bugs at bay? Or is this just normal for a greenhouse? Thanks! submitted by /u/Due-Upstairs-111 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
