Bianca Cook is selected to fight for the Isle of Man. Bianca has family on the island and has decided to make the switch to fight for the small nation ahead of the upcoming European Championships to enhance her selection prospects for Team GB at the Paris Olympics. Day 3 of the Manchester Grand Prix Final ended with Rebecca McGowan winning the silver medal in the +67kg weight category. The morning unfortunately saw early knockouts for Caden Cunningham and Lauren Williams who both were unlucky in their opening fights. Caden however did just enough to gain his qualification spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics while Lauren will have to wait a little longer to try and claim her place at the games. Day 2 of the Manchester Grand Prix Final has brought shock results for GB Taekwondo but still resulted in 2 qualification spots for the 2024 Paris Olympics and a bronze medal for youngster Aailyah Powell. The day started strong with two-time Olympic champion Jade Jones and up and coming star Aailyah Powell both winning their round of 16 fight resulting in the two of them being drawn against each other for the Quarter-Finals. GB Taekwondo are heading home from the Paralympic day of the Manchester Grand Prix Final with three Paralympic qualification spots and a gold and silver medal. The team for the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final has now been confirmed. The team combines youth and experience, in a bid to gain valuable points needed to secure places for the GB Taekwondo Team at the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. The first allocation of Olympic and Paralympic places will be awarded in January 2024, based on athlete rankings. 18 August 2023 World number one Beth Munro led the way for GB Taekwondo as all five fighters won medals at the European Para Championships in Rotterdam. Munro, 30, confirmed her status as rankings world leader with victory in the -65kg K44 category. There were silvers for world number two Amy Truesdale at +65kg and 2019 heavyweight champion, Matt Bush, in their respective K44 classes.
