Dull but mild here in Deauville where we have been attending the Arqana Summer Sale; one runner in our absence, Warriors Story in the 3.47 at Perth tomorrow where the ground should be good summer ground.  He ran well last time until the latter stages so the drop back in trip, we’ve tweaked a few other things as well in the hope he can show his proper form again, Bruce rides and 11 run. Here he is stretching out at Kinneston last week https://www.kinneston.com/wp-content/uploads/WhatsApp-Video-2024-06-28-at-10.12.09_4c9ad8e0.mp4 ..read more

No runners so a summer update…
Kinneston

Damp and chilly this morning, summer seems but a distant memory, hopefully will return next week.  A tremendous run from Everyday Champagne last Sunday, only just denied after a bold front running effort, a career best I’d guess so we will keep him on the go whilst he remains in such good form. Everyday Champagne (Bruce) takes the water at Perth last week Warriors Story ran well to a point but faded quickly in the home straight, there are a number of possible reasons for this but patience is running out and I suspect a switch to point-to-pointing might work for him, he’d be for sale to ..read more

A special Hexham winner & two runners on Perth Gold Cup Day!

Bright today, very cold for the time of year and the grass has stopped growing,  the wind looks like staying in the North until later next week.  A lovely winner at Hexham last Saturday with So Ladylike breaking her duck and in doing so giving Tash Cookson her first winner under rules, very rewarding for everyone and I think we saw a special Derby winner earlier that day. So Ladylike is driven clear under a thoroughly competent ride from Tash It is very busy here on the yard as we scramble to do a long list of refurbishments and improvements before the horses come back in, we have ..read more

Warm and sunny again, summer returns thankfully.  One runner at Hexham this evening, So Ladylike for the Cooksons in the 7.10, ground is still heavy/soft after so much rain earlier in the week though will be drying quickly, hope not too sticky. https://www.kinneston.com/wp-content/uploads/So-Lady.mp4 This race has been the plan for her for a few months, heree she is trotting up at Kinneston this morning, so I’d hope she can run a big race in an open looking contest, ground and track a bit of an unknown but she has a lovely light weight – 7 run and Tash rides.  Last weekend Mack the M ..read more

Warm and sunny again this afternoon after a wet few days, forecast is for more of the latter.  A brilliant winner at Hexham on Tuesday evening with Better be Definite getting up in the shadow of the post, exciting stuff and pleased he is back here at Kinneston after his trip to Doncaster sales, he’s a nice progressive young horse that would have been hard to lose. Better Be Definite (centre) – the sheepie always helps in a photo! Elsewhere on the card Warriors Story didn’t run his race, I’m pretty certain why but frustrating nevertheless, Wavelength ran well enough to be 4th but has los ..read more

Another lovely sunny day and it was beautiful down at Hexham yesterday where Not the Chablis finished an excellent 3rd at the Haydon Point-to-Point. Not the Chablis with Jess and Erin This rounded off an excellent week for the Team which included three winners at Perth’s May meeting.  Artic Mann got the ball rolling on Wednesday evening with a much deserved success then Not in Kansas made it 2/2 for the night when winning well for the Team, she looks progressive. Artic Mann (centre) wiht Bruce On Thursday Mack the Man won the feature hurdle in decisive fashion, Lance les Des made an e ..read more

Warm and sunny, showers about, beautiful spring weather, the farm is looking great and many of the horses are loving being turned out. A great run from Everyday Champagne at Kelso last week, right back to his best, just denied and the ground seems to be the key to him. Everyday Champagne On to Perth’s May meeting where we have seven declared runners across the two days, traditionally our last busy meeting before the summer recess though we have a few more to come out later this month. The  ground should be good to soft and we start with two runners at tomorrow’s evening fixture with Ar ..read more

Cool this evening but the sun is out and spring doesn’t feel far away. Kelso tomorrow where the ground should be good and we have one runner, Everyday Champagne in the 2:40, he was disappointing at the track last time but I like to think he will travel better on the good ground tomorrow and if he can get into a nice rhythm has every chance off his current mark. Bruce rides and 8 run. Everyday Champagne At Hexham on Saturday we had a good evening with Better Be Definite finishing a close second and Warriors Story bouncing back to finish third, Boolamore Classic learnt a lot and will be better ..read more

Lovely spring day, warm and sunny. Back into action at Hexham tomorrow evening with 4 runners on what should be good to soft ground. They have been waiting for this as it seems have a lot of other horses, as entries are very strong everywhere – the races will be competitive! Warriors Story We start with Warriors Story in the 5pm, he is hard to catch right but would be more than capable of winning a race like this on his day. Bruce rides, 13 run. Wavelength Wavelength runs in the 5:35, a race he won two years ago. Again he would have a good chance on his best form. 12 run and Bruce rides ..read more

Cool today, very dry though now and the farmers are busy!  The 2023-24 Jumps Season again concluded with fantastic racing at Sandown yesterday, our own season having finished at Perth on Friday afternoon.  I’m delighted with how our stats for the season have worked out despite the challenges from weather and prize money – 34 winners from 228 runners with 15% of runners winning and 53% placed.  Record prize money of  £430,315  equating to  £1887 per runner; particularly pleased that our top five earners produced an average of £36k and cost an average of £18k, whils ..read more
