It has been a positive week at Lodge Hill, with a lot of our runners turning in good performances.  The juvenile hurdle at Warwick on Wednesday saw Adrakhan improve on his first outing when finishing second to the former smart Flat performer Chatez.  Later on the same card My Oh Mount Brown put in a good round of jumping on his chase debut for third in the two mile novices’ chase. The following day Like Minded make the journey to Bangor, where he was narrowly denied a good win off top weight in the handicap chase by Rocky Bender, who was in receipt of 20lbs from Derek Coles’ consistent perform ..read more

Three winners and a hatful of placing

It has been a busy week for the team with 13 runners over five days in all corners of the country!  The horses have all run with great credit, resulting in three winners and a hatful of placings.  Tuesday’s trip to Southwell brought a winner in the shape of Rascal, who made all to take the three mile handicap hurdle by an impressive 14 lengths for owners The Really Wild Bunch.  The following day’s trip to Ludlow brought more good performances from both Stephanie Francis, who was runner up by a neck in the mares’ handicap hurdle, and Arthamint who showed improvement on his recent Huntingdon run ..read more

We were delighted to welcome representatives from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the yard on Tuesday to formally launch our fundraising partnership with the charity. Yesterday’s achievements at Ludlow & Plumpton saw a notable double for Bridget & the Rio Gold Racing Club and an impressive hurdling debut. It was another magic Sunday for Team Skelton as the week was rounded off in style with an across the card treble. First up was Paul & Clare Rooney’s Longhouse Sale, who was making his debut over hurdle after a prolific bumper campaign last Summer. Jumping well throughout the race, Longhouse Sale moved easily to lead at the last under a motionless Harry to run out an impressive winner and keep his six-race unbeaten record in tact. Team Skelton celebrated an incredible day on Easter Sunday, not only notching up an incredible across the card six-timer, but also reaching the magic 200 winners for the 2018-19 season. The team at Lodge Hill have had much to celebrate over the last two weekends, with success at both the Grand National & Scottish Grand National Festivals. Aux Ptits Soins on the way to victory in the Gr3 Gaskells Handicap Hurdle The team headed to Aintree with a strong-looking hand over the three days, and were rewarded with a winner and a very near miss on Saturday as well as some eye-catching performances from placed horses during the meeting.
