And isn't nut based. Yes, the struggle is real over here. Dairy and nuts, except peanuts and coconuts. Tried oatly's one and it tasted like oat milk. I have yet to find an actually good, not icy, creamy vanilla non dairy ice cream. Any recommendations? submitted by /u/Ravioli_meatball19 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are hives/rashes on the neck/chest a common dairy allergy symptom?

I have been suffering with constant recurring hives/welts concentrated on my neck and chest for the last several weeks. I have always suspected I have at least a sensitivity to milk/dairy due to other symptoms (inflammation, eczema, bloating and digestive issues etc) but always thought it was just lactose intolerance. But lately I am plagued with this stubborn ailment. Its not the same texture as my eczema (it’s more smooth and welt-like) and its not contact dermatitis (I use free and clear products and no new things have been added to my routine). I have been taking allergy medicine regularl ..read more

GI dietitian or nutritionist?

Hi, Looking to see if I should see a GI dietitian or nutritionist? Been having issues with I believe dairy for past few years and seemed to have become worst. I drink lactose free milk and take pills when I have anything that may have dairy in it. I went to an allergist, did a test, and I had no reaction to Milk. But, my symptoms aren't that simple as I've seen others say... I seem to have a delayed response to diary/milk/cheese, usually I'm fine during the day and next morning I wake up and I may have horrible headache which will last hours; sometimes I can feel nauseous (it is like a flip ..read more

Anyone tried allergy immunotherapy and cured?

So, I dont really understand the topic. It seems it depends by countries and medicine level. There is a thing called immunotherapy with some sort of medicals when you use medicine and gain allergen. Then you can cure yourself and be healthy from allergy for 5-10 years. Some sites report this wont work for food allergies and intolerances. My local hospitals write also about food allergy. (You can use google translator and https://www.kliinikum.ee/patsiendiinfo-andmebaas/allergia-immuunravi/ ) Did anyone really tried this for milk? What were your results? I have dairy allergy and it seems alway ..read more

What are the safest places to travel to with anaphylaxis dairy allergy?

My friends and I are looking to travel together somewhere next year. None of them have allergies, and I'd hate to drag them around to only vegan places, so I'm wondering if you have any suggestions for places that would be safest for me to visit without having to ONLY go to vegan places? I've done Thailand and Japan which were both really easy to navigate, so I'm considering Bali or Vietnam. I also really want to visit Greece, but I'm concerned it won't be safe. I'm from Vancouver BC, and so far have travelled to Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Texas, Hawaii, Mexico, Thailand, Japan and New Y ..read more

Newer vs. traditional (in dairy) brands for plant-based cheese?

I'm diving into the world of plant-based cheese, and wow, the options are overwhelming! I've noticed that there are some newer, hip brands like Violife and Daiya, but then there are also old school favorites like Kraft and Land O'Lakes jumping on the plant-based bandwagon. Do yall have a preference between these newer, trendy brands and the tried-and-true favorites in dairy when it comes to plant-based cheese? Anyone suddenly become lactose TOLERANT?

29/M— no other dietary restrictions. Wildly confused and mildly suspicious of this. I’ve been DF/Lactose Free for obvious reasons since I was 15 (and assume a large majority of you are as well) Consuming dairy has always been a genuinely painful experience that hits immediately, so I have always just avoided it & rarely bothered with supplement aids like Lactaid. Honestly easy to live without in a major city, as grocery stores here always have DF alternatives. Anyways: Last week I accidentally consumed dairy and prepared for the worst. Which, never arrived. I then started testing it out a ..read more
