The Wheatland Spikes is a competitive Girls Fast Pitch Softball program for players 7-18 years old. The teams compete in the fall, spring and summer and train indoors at our Spikes Training Center October through March.

WAA travel teams are back with limited practices.
What does this mean? Limited practices are team practices that are limited to TEAM members. Face coverings are required at all times and social distancing should be stressed. Coaches should maintain a 6 foot distance from participants at all times. No spectators are allowed and drop off and pick up procedures should be followed.

Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations on November 17th and effective Friday, November 20, 2020 can be found HERE
To comply with the State of Illinois mitigations, WAA will take the following steps:
• WAA will pause all activities, through Thursday, December 3, 2020.
• WAA will monitor State communications and update participants prior to Friday, December 4th.
• Although the WAA staff will be working, WAA offices and facilities will be closed November 20th through December 3rd.

JR Spikes Husted and JR Spikes Kooi are looking for players to round out their rosters for the 2020 spring/summer season. If you are interested in knowing more about these teams and/or scheduling a tryout, please see the coach contact information below.
About these teams – Ages 7-10, play in the SWS (Southwest Suburban Softball) League, 20-30 games, 2 tournaments and abbreviated winter training. These teams are meant to be a training ground for players who are interested in a more competitive softball program, but do not want the full travel softball experience yet.

The Golden Spike Award was a new addition to the Spikes program in 2018. After each season it will recognize the player(s) who showed the most commitment, character and leadership throughout the season.
The second annual 2019 Golden Spike Award went to Kaili Chval. Kaili has played her whole travel career with the Spikes. A total of 12 years with the program. She played at Oswego East High School, and will now make her mark as an Illinois State Redbird.
Congratulations Kaili!
Kaili’s parent accepted the award on her behalf at the parent meeting.
