Time is running out to comment on proposals to change PIP benefits and replace cash payments with vouchers.
The previous Government published the “Modernising Support for Independent Living: The Health and Disability Green Paper” earlier this year. The consultation period ends on July 22nd.
The Green Paper proposes changes to assessments, eligibility criteria, and the move towards a medical model of entitlement. Campaigners believe this will have the effect of reducing the number of people who are eligible for PIP benefits and the amount they are entitled to claim.

Thousands of unpaid carers in Yorkshire are looking after family members or friends – and many don’t even recognise themselves as carers, or know about the support they can access.
During Carers Week, Carers’ Resource, the charity supporting young and adult unpaid carers across Bradford, Harrogate, Craven and Selby, is aiming to raise awareness of the challenges carers face.
The week runs from June 10-16 this year and the national theme is ‘putting carers on the map’.

It’s Volunteers’ Week (3-9 June) and Carers’ Resource wants to say a huge thank you to its dedicated volunteers for the invaluable contribution they make to help the charity support thousands of unpaid carers.
Carers’ Resource has a team of around 140 volunteers who play an important role in the services and support offered by the charity to unpaid carers in the Bradford, Harrogate, Craven and Selby areas.

Unpaid carers are being invited to take part in a new wellbeing course run by local counsellors in Skipton.
Carers’ Resource, the local charity that supports unpaid carers across Craven, is launching a two-part workshop “Caring for the carers – You Count!”

A new youth club has been launched in Sherburn in Elmet by local charity Carers’ Resource.
The charity already runs the Budz (aged 7-11) and uTime (aged 11+) youth clubs at Communi-tea, on Abbey Walk in Selby, for young carers from across the Selby district.
Due to a significant increase in young carers in the areas of Sherburn, Tadcaster and surrounding villages, the charity has now started a new club at The Old Girls’ School Community Centre, on Kirkgate, in Sherburn.

Young carers enjoyed some egg-cellent activities over the Easter holidays, organised by local charity Carers’ Resource.
The activities were a chance for the young people to have a break from any caring responsibilities and spend some quality time with others in similar situations.
The charity’s Bradford Young Carers team arranged a trip to White Scar Cave in Ingleton, where a group of young carers had a great time visiting the longest show cave in England.

A new Selby district parent carer group set up by local charity Carers’ Resource had its first get-together recently.
Parent carers from the Selby area came along to the event on Tuesday, 20th February at Summit Indoor Adventure, on Scott Road, Selby, where they met and spoke to other parent carers, asked questions, took some time out and had a brew.
It followed a successful launch event held for the group at the end of November last year.
