On the north (Middlesex) bank of the Thames, upstream of Putney Bridge, is a a bench in memory of Ed Catmur.
Photo: from the Oxford University Cross-Country Magazine
It is between controls 11 and 12 of this course organised by Vince Roper in July 2010. This map clip is from the short course. Ed was fastest on the long course that evening.
Ed was a longtime member of the club who died last winter. We paid tribute in this article.

Several SLOW members enjoyed the British Sprint Relays and the British Sprint Championships in the Midlands on the weekend 22-23rd June. Everyone found a way to get there despite the rail engineering work! Well done to everyone who ran.
Relays
First up was the sprint relays. It was pretty special, being an evening relay on one of the longest days of the year. The arena at the University of Birmingham was brilliant, with the clock tower being useful for getting to start at the right time. Many thanks to Harlequins Orienteering Club for organising.
SLOW fielded five teams: one team in the Elite ..read more

There was a great turn out at the Clapham Street-O, the finale of the 2023-24 series. Over 100 people walked/ jogged/ ran and enjoyed the glorious evening of orienteering. Special congratulations goes to the Buchanans, who are probably the oldest competitors we’ve ever had at a Street-O!
Many thanks to Barbara for organising a great event and to all the on the day helpers.
