I went to the BMC conference where I had 6 sessions with A and Rs from a bunch of labels, the list included the likes of Defected and Armada. Here’s what I learned and how it could help you if you ever go to one, which you 100% should. You get 15 mins with each label. For your demos have a USB with 3 of your best songs, contact info and social media stats. If they like your first song they’ll play the other 2. Seeing as we’re fans of dreamy pop over at the blog, this remix of The Kaleidoscopes song featuring Swiss Music Awards nominee Shuttle caught my attention recently. Pa-Pa – Liminal Pop Up Shop Ticking all my boxes of Jpop, Synthwave, Vapourwave, Raregroove; Liminal Pop Up Shop is just a joy to listen to. There are nods to early 80’s City Pop like Sadao Watanabe and The ABs or even modern acts like FM84 or The Midnight, with with it’s infectious synth lines and that oh-so-Japanese chordal arrangement. I’m also reminded strongly of the work Vaughn Oliver of Oliver fame is up to from time to time.
