Help to Stop You Coming Over the Top

Slicers and golfers that pull shots, tend to come over the top on the downswing. The results is that the club swings from the outside to in path. If the clubface is open on this path, the ball will fly left to right. If the clubface is closed on this path, the will ball go straight to the left. To solve this you will want to learn how to sequence your swing so that you learn to swing the club on the correct plane and the path is more inside to out. This drill will help you learn to swing the club on the correct path. The post Help to Stop You Coming Over the Top appeared first on Women's Gol ..read more

How to Play From an Uphill Lie in a Bunker

What if your ball is in a greenside bunker and you are faced with an uphill lie to get to the flag. Firstly, you need to make sure you have the correct club in your hand because, from this situation, the ball is going to go higher and shorter than it would normally from the sand. You can hit any of the wedges like your lob wedge, sand wedge, or your gap wedge. Just remember as it’s going to go higher and shorter you should play the ball position off the inside of your front foot, maybe even more towards the middle of your stance. Make sure you get a good footing with your feet and slop ..read more

Here’s How to Stop Swaying in Your Backswing

If you are someone who sways in your back swing with too much lateral lower body movement, this may cause you to have poor contact with your shots. Try this simple drill that I use in my lessons all of the time. Place a golf ball under your trail foot heel right in the center of your heel. This is the right foot for a right handed golfer. Your goal is to turn normally and at the top of your backswing, you should feel stable on top of the golf ball. If your foot or your shoe rolls, you have too much movement and that could be causing poor contact. Start practicing with a golf ball under your r ..read more

The Goal of Consistency in Golf

There is not a day that goes by that one or more of my students state their common goal for the lesson session (or for golf in general) being “Consistency”. In fact it is a rarity for someone to not mention this very thing. We all want to be more “consistent”, a very challenging thing to be. “You gotta dance with the girl that brung ya!” –Daryl Royal, Former UT Football Coach As humans, we wake up feeling different every day. Physiologically, we are not the same as the day before, even if we have the same routine and ritual of diet, sleep, exercise, and our work/leisure schedule. It is always ..read more
