Talor Gooch, last year’s LIV Golf League season champion, says he has received a special invitational to next week’s PGA Championship. Gooch had complained about the lack of world golf ranking points for LIV’s 54-hole events keeping strong players out of Major tournaments. World No 6 Ludvig Aberg of Sweden has withdrawn from this week’s Wells Fargo Championship with lingering knee soreness only 10 days before the PGA Championship. Taylor Pendrith birdied the final hole to seize his first PGA Tour title at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson ahead of Ben Kohles, who bogeyed 18 for an agonising runner-up finish. Brooks Koepka fired a warning ahead of his PGA Championship defence in two weeks’ time by carding a three-under par 68 on Sunday to win LIV Singapore by two strokes from Australian pair Cam Smith and Marc Leishman.
