I love me some Save the Dates. These cards may be small, but they serve such a bigger purpose when it comes to wedding planning. Typically, the Save the Date is the first piece of wedding stationery to hit the chopping block. Before you do that, read up on why these cards are so important. Why do I need to send a Save the Date? Chances are guests will be traveling from out-of-town to attend your wedding. Save the Dates are really for these guests to not only mark their calendar, but begin to think about travel arrangements. Guests can begin to check flights or budget for traveling. It’s that time – time for Mint Juleps and The Kentucky Derby. I’m not originally from Kentucky, but I can definitely get behind a sport that involves Bourbon, fancy hats and a race that lasts 2 minutes. Especially if I’ve found myself with a winning ticket. As seen on Style Me Pretty Wherever you’re spending Derby, make sure you have the right ingredients to mix yourself up a Julep, be it Mint, Champagne, or Strawberry. See below for recipes. Classic Southern Mountain Wedding in the West Virginia

This southern mountain wedding really doesn’t get much better with its classic monogram, classic southern hospitality and lush florals. Ashley and Dustin live in Cincinnati and won a weekend getaway at a silent auction to the mountains of West Virginia. They thought this would be the perfect trip to celebrate their recent engagement. Upon their arrival to Elmwood, they were overwhelmed by the old charm that the estate offered. They spent their weekend exploring the town of Union; including breakfast at Nanny’s, skeet shooting in the afternoon and ending their evenings with cocktails on the pat ..read more

Whimsical Rustic in Lexington

Whimsical is one of those descriptions I hear often and it can mean a few different things when speaking about weddings. Here, at The Livery, whimsical leans more towards the boho side. Blending modern touches with rustic, historic surroundings, the inspiration was almost overwhelming. As seen in Kentucky Bride Magazine The Whimsical Details Lunaria is a subtle plant. It tends to glow with its more transparent nature and yet still appears to be extremely delicate. To incorporate this subtle shine into all the paper pieces, I backed the soft, cotton deckle edge paper with a neutral metallic pap ..read more

This masculine invitation was sitting in the back of my mind, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make it’s appearance. It goes to show not every client dreams of a blush and bashful wedding, but instead opt for a more modern affair with a touch of edge. This half camel-colored leather and half cotton paper, letterpress printed suite shows more of a structured side to wedding invitations.   The MalicotesThe MalicotesThe MalicotesThe MalicotesThe MalicotesThe Malicotes The post Leather Invitation in New York City appeared first on Five Dot Design ..read more

Seaside European Wedding in Dubrovnik, Croatia

There are going to be weddings in your career when you pinch yourself. For me it was this seaside European Wedding in Dubrovnik, Croatia at the Grand Villa Argentina. Most may recognize Dubrovnik from scenes from Game of Thrones. I recognize it as my first European adventure… that also turned out to be my first European wedding. Normally, I don’t work the day-of weddings, but Mike and Melissa are good friends, so I tagged along to help my studio mate and the florist, Marti Heard Designs. We were set up in a little apartment right on the harbor, behind the farmer’s market. Each morning we would ..read more

Black Tie Horse Farm Wedding

I couldn’t say no when Refined Social asked me to create a menu for this black tie horse farm wedding. Brick red paired with gold foil and Claudia Engle calligraphy just screams gorgeous. But then again, when you see the entire wedding, gorgeous takes on a new meaning. As seen on The Knot as “A Playful Black-Tie Wedding at a Private Residence in Lexington, Kentucky” Sometimes I joke that I’m the menu girl. I’ve created so many beautiful menus for so many beautiful weddings and I secretly love it. This TX bride knew she wanted to get married in front of the chapel her father built on their fami ..read more

Alicia + Andrew’s burgundy and bourbon wedding kinda takes the cake for 2017. Cotton paper, gold leaf detail, and letterpress printing made it really easy to fall in love with this suite. And with a backdrop like The Monastery, Megan Noll Photography capturing every inch of gorgeous, and Cincy Weddings by Maura keeping everything on track, nothing but amazing can happen. As seen on Style Me Pretty as “Gold, Maroon + Bourbon: A Winning Wedding Trio” Alicia + Andrew were inspired by The Monastery’s old world industrial feel, making it easy to pair with their bourbon inspirations. We used cotton ..read more

Urban Elegance in Santa Ana California

Dust blue was all the rage for romantic wedding inspiration and we’re still seeing hints of it pop up. It’s definitely one of my favorite colors to design with, as blue has so much depth to it’s palette. Pairing these dusty blue hues with an urban setting really gives off a beautiful urban elegance. And those hues may be delicate and soft, but they still pack some punch. As seen on Aisle Perfect, Baubles & Bowties, and Aisle Society For the invitations, I decided to test out dip-dying. Dip dying is when you take your paper and dip it in the bath of color. The longer you leave it in the bat ..read more

Anything that can make our lives easier and our businesses run smoother is a no-brainer. I have five services my business can’t run without that are tried, true, and used every single day – even when I’m not working – and if you took one of these away from me, I’m pretty sure I would cry ugly, ugly sobs. (Make sure you read through them all because there’s a little something in it for you, too!) 1. Dropbox I had an external hardrive shit out on me this summer and the panic that ensued from that experience is one that could have been 10x worse… had I not backed up my entire life on my Dropbox ..read more
