After watching the Canucks pull off one of the most miraculous comebacks in their playoff history, all I could think of was one thing: Bob Cole would have absolutely loved that one. Everything was happening, and oh baby, how, about, that, what an ending for the Vancouver Canucks, who took game four in overtime by a score of 4-3.
Now here’s the rub: for 57 minutes of that game? Vancouver was awful. Putrid. Disgusting. Embarrassing. A stain upon your family tree. The worst thing to happen since UPN was taken off air. The kind of effort that made you consider taking up competitive cribbage instea ..read more

On a Sunday afternoon when the Vancouver Canucks took down the Nashville Predators in game four of the Stanley Cup playoffs, their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, were gearing up for a do-or-die match in the Calder Cup Playoffs.
After splitting the series’ initial two games, the Abbotsford Canucks faced the Colorado Eagles in their final game of a best-of-three series with their 2023-24 season on the line.
Something felt a little off, as both of Abbotsford’s starting netminders were in Nashville, donning the Canucks’ orca logo.
Yet, Zach Sawchenko proved that he was up to the task, capp ..read more

The big question on everyone’s mind today was how Arturs Silovs would fair in the Vancouver goal crease. Silovs faced two early tests that he looked sharp on, stymying some early pressure from Nashville.

Sources say Arturs Silovs starts Game 4 for #Canucks. Casey DeSmith is injured.

NASHVILLE – The Vancouver Canucks may be forced to go with a third starting goalie just four games into their opening round Stanley Cup Playoff match-up with Nashville.
Head coach Rick Tocchet played coy when asked point blank if Casey DeSmith was his starter for Game 4 this afternoon at Bridgestone Arena.
Tocchet wouldn’t confirm DeSmith will start when asked point blank
— Jeff Paterson (@patersonjeff) April 28, 2024
Tocchet would only say that he has a line-up decision to make for today’s game and wouldn’t elaborate when pressed on the issue.

NASHVILLE – The Vancouver Canucks will look to grab a 3-1 stranglehold on their first round playoff series when they face the Nashville Predators in Game 4 at Bridgestone Arena this afternoon.
The game is set for a 4pm Central time (2pm Pacific) puck drop.
With the earlier than usual start time, neither team held a morning skate. Both teams practiced at Bridgestone on Saturday afternoon. The Canucks showed no indication of any potential line-up changes during their brief 30 minute practice.

The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Nashville Predators in Friday’s Game 3 of Round One of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
And they did so while only taking just 12 official shots on Nashville goaltender Juuse Saros.
After setting the tone in Game 1, the Canucks allowed the Predators to return the favour as Game 2 turned into a sludge-match of just 34 cumulative shots between the two teams. As the Predators blocked what seemed like hundreds of shot attempts, the Canucks fell in that one to the tune of 4-1.
It’s arguable that, with home-ice advantage now in hand, Nashville again set the tone in Game 3 ..read more

NASHVILLE – Based on a quick practice on Saturday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks look like they’ll go with the same lineup in Game 4 on Sunday that they used to grind out a 2-1 win in Game 3 on Friday night.
What we saw
With the Nashville marathon clogging the streets around Bridgestone Arena on Saturday morning, both teams elected to avoid the congestion and pushed their practices into the early afternoon. The Predators skated first followed by the Canucks.

A collision behind the Vancouver net in Game 3 has resulted in the DoPS handing out supplemental discipline to Michael McCarron.
Nashville’s Michael McCarron has been fined $2,000 for goalie interference on Vancouver’s Casey DeSmith.
— NHL Player Safety (@NHLPlayerSafety) April 27, 2024
The incident occurred midway through the first period when Casey DeSmith was behind the net trying to clear the puck out of harm’s way when he received a hit from McCarron, who came in with a burst of speed. A penalty was immediately called on the play and a scrum ensued shortly after that, with Filip Hronek ..read more
