Loving My Body Through Pole
Push Pole Blog

I’ve always had a interesting relationship with my body. You know the type of relationship that’s just sort of like meh. Growing up and a little too many fast food meals in between, I quickly diverged from the skinny Asian female mold and was constantly reminded of that. Being a chubby kid was okay, but still being a chubby kid past the fifth grade started to be not okay because it wasn’t “cute” anymore. I wasn’t very active, mostly because P.E for some reason filled me with anxiety. I think it had to do with fact that I was just not good at team sports and that I was not good because I w ..read more

Evolution of Pole Shorts
Push Pole Blog
by Tiffany

I’ve been poling for a little over four years now and throughout that time there are many changes I’ve see in myself. My arms are buffer, my splits are (a little) bendier, my flow is smoother, my overall health and happiness is higher. Oh and my pole shorts have gotten shorter. There’s a theory out there that there is an inverse relationship between the amount of time you’ve been pole dancing and how short your shorts are. Looking at myself and the coverage of my bum, I can’t help but agree. So here’s a little story about the evolution of my pole shorts told in the second person. On the first ..read more

Pole Dance Problems: Foot Cramps
Push Pole Blog
by Tiffany

It’s happened to all of us before. You’re being good and pointing your toes and your foot suddenly cramps up and you poor lil toes look like mangled tree roots. Ahh! Unless you grew up pointing your toes (hello dancers!) this will most likely happen to you when you start pole dancing. It still happens to me from time to time especially when I’m switching up to my less dominant side of climbing. So what can you do to minimize the cringe worthy toe cramp? Aside from having proper nutrition and water circulating in your body, I’ve learned that the more you practice and stretch your toe point the ..read more

Pole Competition Tips
Push Pole Blog
by Tiffany

The winter days are slowly coming to an end and that means (pole) competition season has started! This is my first year not competing since 2015 and perhaps it’s the nostalgia of training with my pole sisters around this time that has led me to write this little post. Are you a newbie dipping into the world of competition? Here are our top 10 tips for pole competitions. 1. Never too early to start training. The first thought that comes to mind whenever I’m competition training is, “Man I wish I started earlier” because then I wouldn’t be stressing as much as I am now. If you want to compete yo ..read more

Happy birthday to us! One year ago today I launched Push + Pole, a scary yet exciting dive into the world of entrepreneurship, and we’re still alive and (slowly) thriving! Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s to come this year! More Pole Events Last year we were able to make it to the mecca of pole dance events, Pole Expo, and PSO’s Northeast pole championship. This year we’re going to hit Pole Expo again and head to ATL for Pole Con! We’ll also be attending more regional pole competitions. A plus about moving to the middle of the US, is that it’s pretty convenient to travel domestically! Gett ..read more

Pole Dance Hands
Push Pole Blog

Oh pole dance hands! This post is dedicated to all the times after pole (or aerial!) where you look down at your hands and just think, “gross”. If you’re new to the pole/aerial world or you’ve been in the game for a while we can all lament a few of these facts: Permanent Callouses as Tough as an Armadillo While they may not look or feel very nice, calluses are secretly a pole dancers best friend! We do a lot of crazy things with our hands and need a hard layer of protection from ripping our skin off. It may be SOO SOO tempting to pick at your calluses (I’m guilty of it all the time), but thi ..read more

Introducing our new DIY SERIES for all you crafty polers and aerialists! I LOVE crafting and all things DIY so what better way to start making cool little projects for the pole and aerial community! So I’m a little particular when it comes to decorating my personal (sacred) spaces. While building up my pole play room, one of the things I really wanted were some neon lights because for pole, mood is everything right?! My idea was to dim the lights and dance to have some quirky neon signs around me. “Now where can I get a pole inspired neon sign?” Umm…nowhere so I have to make it. I googled sear ..read more

2017 Pole Dance Resolutions (for me & you!)
Push Pole Blog
by Tiffany

Hello 2017! You are finally here and now I have another year of resolutions to (try) to accomplish. I’ve listed out some of my goals for the year but really they can be any polers new years resolutions as well. Getting My Squared Splits… Ahhh being bendy – isn’t that a goal we all aspire to be?  While we aren’t all gifted with a contortionist’s body, we can improve our flexibility with practice and time put in – which for the most part I’ve been lazy about doing. I’m the type that finds it hard to practice things alone, I much prefer a class setting and someone (literally) pushing me. Th ..read more

Push Pole Blog

Wow, I can’t believe 2016 is almost over! It’s been an amazing year full of challenges and adventures. This is the year where I can say that pole definitely changed my life. I definitely would not be writing this without a big, HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has supported this business along the way. Just to be a little nostalgic and sappy here is my year in review: Launching Push + Pole The biggest change this year has been working a normal, comfortable, “corporate” job in the creative/fashion industry to becoming a full fledged entrepreneur. Running my own business has always been somethin ..read more
