What do I do if in person classes aren’t an option?

The closest in person class is 3hr away, and I’m guessing most of these classes are structured over multiple class sessions stretched out over weeks, instead of one good workshop type class as an intro to pole. I know there is resources online to learn tricks, techniques, and proper pole positioning so you don’t get injured. However, I am a young adult with ADHD still trying to figure out how to live with a part time job & going to college. I’m afraid if I just go and buy a good pole (which is pretty expensive, especially for my circumstances) I won’t want to keep doing it because of how ..read more

Help me reassure my partner that a pole would be okay in our rental?

Hi! So, my partner and I live in a unit beneath our landlords who are very cool and chill with whatever we’re doing in regards to exercise, decor, etc. I’ve been waiting for what seems like forever to buy and have my own pole and it’s finally time! I’ve had a pole installed in past rentals with a roommate and it never left any marks or damage even when we moved it to different rooms or apartments. My partner is very worried that the pole would damage the floor or ceiling and it doesn’t matter how many times I’ve told them “don’t worry, I’ve had experiences and it’ll be okay” they’re super sus ..read more

How Often do you go to Open Pole? How do you balance it with classes?

Hey everyone, I’ve been pole dancing for about a year and am low intermediate. I mostly go to classes (2-3x a week) and have a pole at home l practice on. I don’t feel comfortable practicing harder inverted moves at home (pole is still slippery plus no spot). In classes, we are often learning new moves each time and not revisiting basics like leg hangs, butterfly, superman, etc each class. I’m thinking I should make time for open pole each week but I feel like I perform better in a class environment. I do realize though that it’s tougher for me to come back to old moves after not practicing t ..read more

Fat Girl New to Pole

Hi everyone. Just as the title says. I'm 216 lbs (lost weight) with bad knees. Oh, I'm almost 48 but that doesn't matter right? I think I've already made a mistake purchasing a 40mm pole (I have freakishly small hands) but I have to start somewhere. I plan on spinning and then moving to static. May also purchase a silicone wrap. Once I feel comfortable enough, I may go to the studio in STL. I'm lucky in that aspect, studio isn't far from my place of work. My questions: What moves are more upper strength orientated? My knees issues are patellar rather than arthritic. My legs are strong but as ..read more
