Oklahoma City routed Sugar Land 22-1. Austin Gauthier, Alex Freeland, and Jake Gelof, all of whom were promoted on Tuesday, each homered on Thursday for their new teams.
Thursday was a huge night for Dodgers minor leaguers who were promoted earlier this week.
Player of the day
Ben Casparius in his Triple-A debut picked up right where he left off from Tulsa with five scoreless innings with five strikeouts at Sugar Land. He worked around three singles and three walks to keep his line spotless.

Third series of the season between the Dodgers and Padres, this time beginning Friday night at Petco Park in San Diego
The Dodgers and Padres meet in a third city in a 51-day span with Friday’s series opener at Petco Park. This is the first of two trips to San Diego this season for the Dodgers, who have already played the Padres in Seoul and Los Angeles so far in 2024.
This is technically a matchup of first- and second-place teams in the National League West, but the Dodgers’ 6½-game lead over the Padres is the largest divisional lead in MLB, thanks to a 14-2 ..read more

The Dodgers’ infield has been a pleasant surprise so far thanks to top-ranked defense.
The Dodgers’ infield has become a surprising asset, writes Doug Padilla at the OC Register. Once thought to be the team’s weakest link, infield defense is dramatically exceeding expectations.
The team shook things up by moving Gavin Lux out of shortstop, Mookie Betts into the position, and Miguel Rojas into a backup role. Now, the infield is third in the major leagues in FanGraphs’ defensive runs saved ranking.
That accomplishment has been a team effort, said manager D ..read more

Player of the day
Patrick Copen struck out six in five scoreless innings for Low-A Rancho Cucamonga in his longest outing as a professional since the Dodgers drafted the right-hander out of Marshall in the seventh round last year. He induced 13 swinging strikes among his 77 pitches.

LA has outscored opponents 100-31 over the last two and a half weeks, widening their NL West lead to 6½ games
The Dodgers finished off a perfect homestand by winning their seventh straight game. That longest win streak of the season came only a few games after the previous longest winning streak. That’s the recipe for 14 wins in 16 games, and Los Angeles separating themselves from the rest of the National League West.
In the last homestand, the Dodgers lost six of their first eight games, and lost all three series at Dodger Stadium. Things we ..read more

Gavin Stone pitched seven strong innings. Teoscar Hernández drove in all three runs, including a two-run home run as the Dodgers completed a perfect homestand
Wednesday’s daytime series finale wasn’t as explosive as the first two games, and runs were harder to come by. But thanks to a pair of two-out hits by Teoscar Hernández and more excellent pitching by Gavin Stone, the Dodgers beat the Marlins 3-1 and finished off their second sweep in a row.
After the Dodgers scored 14 runs in the first two games, there wan’s much of a storm under Wednesday’s sunny sk ..read more

Jason Heyward has been out since April 3 due to low back tightness, but that hasn’t limited the production from the Dodgers’ outfield.
Free agent signing Teoscar Hernández has played as advertised; a great power threat who collects RBIs in bunches with a tendency to strike out. Since being called up from Triple-A, Andy Pages has quietly put himself in the Rookie of the Year conversation and leads all Dodgers outfielders in wRC+. The interchangeable mix of Chris Taylor, James Outman, and Kiké Hernández haven’t lived up to expectations, but haven’t weighed down the effectivity of the lineup too ..read more
