Ooh! It’s DogFest weekend, I almost forgot! If you’re in SF and have a pooch, drop by Duboce Park on Saturday, the 27th, between 11 AM and 4 PM for lots of fun with your fuzzy friend. If you’re in SF and don’t have a pooch, drop by DogFest and adopt one! Or at least pet a bunch of ’em. More info is here: https://mckinleyschool.org/dogfest/ Click the links at the top of the page… the front page isn’t terribly informative. Hope to see you there ..read more

Dog of the Day: Bernadoodle Maybe?
The Dogs Of San Francisco

Man, this guy’s a tough one! He sure does have his calisthenics down pat, though, doesn’t he? I dunno. Kind of dilute for a bernadoodle. Maybe an Aussiedoodle? Border-doodle?Might still be a puppy. Wish I’d grabbed a note about this one.I don’t even recall what trick this was, although I think it was one.He also likes belly rubs. Not shown: collision with camera ..read more

Dog of the Day: Mishka the Maybe Cocker Spaniel Poodle Mix Puppy

I don’t have any notes for Mishka, but his name is on his tags, and I think he might be a cockapoo. If you look in the phone you’ll see a reflection of the sign we were standing in front of: ‘Korean Corn Dog’. I don’t think Mishka is Korean, but he might be a little corny!Mishka basically means ‘little mousie’ in Russian (which I took in high school). Google says it means ‘bag’ in Ukranian. I’m choosing to assume that this is a little mousie ..read more

Dog News: World Dog Surfing Championships IN JEOPARDY!
The Dogs Of San Francisco

I’ve loved covering the World Dog Surfing Championship the several times I did it. This year it’s not clear there’s going to be one, because the costs have apparently gone way up… the local city government is charging way more for permits and such. If you want to see more funny pictures of dogs falling off of surf boards, act now ..read more

Dog of the Day: Doom the German Anatolian Shepherd Mix
The Dogs Of San Francisco
by Adam Lang

‘Doom the Shepherd’ could be mistaken for an instruction, or perhaps the name of a particularly pastoral punk band, but in this case Doom is his name. Doom is 11, and is a mix of German and Anatolian shepherd. I said ‘wow, I don’t think I’ve ever run into an Anatolian mix before, that’s really unusual’ and they said ‘well, he is from Turkey’ so I guess that explains a certain amount! Doom is the best canine friend of Rohnan (yesterday’s dog). The two of them look pretty silly together, but unfortunately none of my group photos turned out ..read more
