Do you pause a bit when you scroll past a pretty quilt on Instagram or Pinterest and wish you could make it? After getting a sewing machine for Christmas have you been wanting to maybe try quilting but have been too overwhelmed to try? I’m consistently impressed by quilters but for a long time I resisted quilting. Quilting had, dare I say it, kind of a “grandma” vibe to it? (Why this bothered me is a mystery bec ..read more

The Making of Summer
Katherine Lenius
by Katherine Lenius

Summer is always a different pace for me work-wise. For years I struggled with the balance of working from home with 3 kids out of school for the summer. I felt guilty when I wasn’t giving enough attention to my work (productivity!), but I felt guilty if I wasn’t constantly providing “the best summer ever” for my kids. Now, my kids have gotten older and some of them work, and drive, and they make their own lunches! But there’s still the strong pull to do “fun things” during the summer, to make plans, to be checking things off that summer bucket list. Over time I got better about leaning in to ..read more

Blossom Lane, my next fabric collection with Riley Blake Designs, is coming to shops in November 2023! Blossom Lane is like walking down a street of colorful houses with abundant gardens and overflowing windowboxes. I’m a homebody through and through and I love the places we call home, all kinds of homes, from floor to ceiling. I love a house that says come on in and stay for awhile. Knock on the multicolored front doors of this collection and find oversized blooms and branches, a stack of pretty mail, antique keys, fun tiles, and little windows. All are welcome on this street, a place to see ..read more

A New Year begins!
Katherine Lenius

Even though we’re past the halfway point in January I feel like we can still claim it as “New Year’s” time, can’t we? This was the first week everyone else in my house was back to school or work in their various locations, so although I’ve been working earlier in the month this was the first time I had a chance to pause and look ahead. I just finished a big project so I’m kind of in the “lull” before I start on something new. And while I’m not big on resolutions and have no expectation that my life will suddenly get more exciting and more productive, all while wearing jeans in a smaller size ..read more

A new Shop and tea towel calendar for 2023
Katherine Lenius
by Katherine Lenius

I’ve been designing tea towel calendars since 2014 (with maybe a year off here and there) and I really enjoy creating them. They have a nostalgic feel, but I like to add a modern twist in my design. This year I’ve designed a towel with garden flowers throughout the seasons in a similar style to my 2022 towel. I’ve also re-opened my shop in a new place! Here! I now have a shop here on my personal website. For now the tea towel calendars will be my only product for this holiday season, but I hope to add more products in the new year. If you’d like a tea towel for yourself or to give as a gift t ..read more

Sewing with Wildwood Wander
Katherine Lenius

My Wildwood Wander fabric collection came out in August and I’m starting to see some projects out there in the world. I can’t wait to sew more with this collection, but I did dip my toe in with a very easy project. In fact, at the time I didn’t even have my fabric supply yet so I used the bits and pieces from my last round of strike-offs (tests prints). As I see more projects with Wildwood Wander I’ll add them below! Quilted Tote Bag I love (love) a tote bag. Like, you have no idea how many tote bags I have and how many tote bags I’ve made. It’s an issue. Let’s ignore that. I saw this cute qu ..read more
