Hello cartographers, I've got a technical question, I guess. So let's say that my drawing skills, especially perspective, are kinda limited. I stumbled upon maps of an artist known under the name Jeff Murray and what hooked my attention was GoT map: shorturl.at/oqwYZ Everything's aligned perfectly in this view, nothing's skewed or off and amount of details is simply astonishing. What I'm really curious about is how do you draw such perspective? Any ideas or resources I should look into? Other examples of his work: https://www.jeffmurray.co.uk/product/the-city-of-italy/ / https://www.studioart ..read more

Decided to draw this for fun. I was thinking of drawing a map of Westeros with all the castles and features in this style. Anyone interested? https://preview.redd.it/8bnjjaeo26a91.png?width=1451&format=png&auto=webp&s=0d81ee441e4c8e6274938356709fa2ef88617648 submitted by /u/HumanRobotTime [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm working on a map of my world that's using leaflet to have google-maps type functionality. I made a sat-map lookalike and got everything up and running... and it just feels wrong to have a sat-map but not something like that simple color blotch map GOogle uses. I've spent a while trying to google up a tutorial for drawing in that style, but I can't find anything because I don't know what the style is called and "Google maps fantasy cartography" searches only get me ways to plot stuff on the actual google maps. Anyone here know what the style is called? Or got any tutorials for it? Sure, it ..read more

Regional Map I made for a D&D campaign I ran, open for commissions! Still fleshing out the lore for this place as the game sadly got cut short.

I'm currently using Dungeondraft and Wonderdraft, but wondering about CC frequently. Of course, I know about the steep learning curve, that it's CAD-based, etc. The dated lookout doesn't bother me, but I'm curious: does it actually have any features and functionalities that more recent mapping softwares lack, in exchange for all the above? The Profantasy's webpage and its community seems to be quite active, so I guess there something it can offer? submitted by /u/Bulky_Fly2520 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
