Modern travelers want modern solutions, and the ability to craft their own journeys. Traditional, linear experiences are no longer suitable to capture the interest of modern guests. In a recent survey by NYU’s School of Professional Studies, 92% of 525 hoteliers surveyed said their guests were more accepting of contactless technology, and that access to the technology had become an expectation. Not only has self-service become an expectation, it’s now a top preference for guests. According to data published by Oracle Hospitality, 73% of travelers are now more likely to choose hotels offe ..read more

What are the best tattoo apps to try before you commit? For many of us, tattoos hold a certain allure, a form of self-expression that’s both personal and public. However, the permanence of this commitment can drive us away. Once that needle dances on your skin, the ink is there to stay, etched in your skin for a lifetime, for better or for worse. Yes, tattoo removals or cover-ups do exist as a safety net, but they’re not without their drawbacks. These procedures can be heavy on the wallet and physically demanding, posing a significant amount of dis ..read more

It seems everyone has a podcast these days, which is great, because you can find multiple podcasts to match your interest. It’s wild! But producing a great podcast, can be tough. You have to manage pacing, music, ad reads, gaps in the audio, and different microphone levels. Ferrite is a mobile-first app that can help with that. When I edit my podcast, I use Ferrite. The amount of controls can be daunting but Ferrite makes it approachable. Not only that, but it is designed from the beginning for iPhone and iPad. Yuka is a super helpful app that allows you to scan food items and cosmetics while shopping and can give you scores, allergens, and other helpful information. This helps users make more informed purchasing decisions that are beneficial to their health. With a common tab bar design, Yuka isn’t hard to understand. The center tab is automatically highlighted as you open the app, which imitates the camera. This makes it very fast to scan items with limited interaction. Other tabs are for item history, recommendations, overview, and manual search. Once Yuka detects a barcode with the scanner, it pu ..read more

The rise of social media has transformed how we travel, and people are increasingly turning to user-generated content (UGC) across platforms for inspiration. According to a recent study by the Expedia group, travelers view 141 pages of travel content on average in the 45 days prior to booking. During the inspiration stage of research, when travelers first start thinking about a trip, 77% of participants surveyed used social media as a resource. The reason for this is clear: modern travelers have become skeptical of polished, potentially inauthentic advertising. They are seeking soc ..read more

First and foremost — I’m not recommending you to try fasting or that it can help you in any way. I’m in no way qualified on matters of metabolic effectiveness. I can however speak in-depth on the thoughtful app design. When I saw FastMinder, I wanted to add it to my list. The app’s premise is straight forward. Create your fasting schedule and it helps keep you on track and lets you know when it is time to eat again. It sounds easy, but to create this needed an entirely custom interface system. It is shown as a circle of different segments that are colorcoded with different icons. Each segment ..read more

If you’re gearing up to travel to Disneyland, you’re going to want to download the My Disney Experience app. It’s the one place to do everything from managing your hotel stay, viewing park maps, ordering food, or getting fast passes to rides. Despite its simple outward experience, this app has so much tech baked into it. On the surface, it’s a simple park app. You can view maps, look up attractions, check show times, and all that kind of stuff. Disney takes it further though by integrating the app directly into many park services. For rides, you can view the real-time wait time and jump into t ..read more

In the dynamic and ever-changing world of hospitality, travel companies constantly face challenges in providing guests with a premium experience. Maintaining a successful operation requires agility and a willingness to evolve, yet many hotels have failed to keep pace with their peers. This assertion is not based on mere speculation. For our project with MGM, Fueled spent months conducting interviews with hotel guests, casual visitors, top-tier loyalty program members, on-the-ground resort staff, and a range of corporate stakeholders. We also gathered quantitative research and reviewed past MGM ..read more

Quick story first, deal? My second-cousin is an architect and when my great aunt moved into a small condo, she set about using her skills to design this insane planter layout. It would maximize space, promote symbiotic plants, and be overall aesthetically pleasing. It was amazing to see her hand-drawn sketches which then came to life in this relatively small planter, at least compared to what she had before. Now, I am not an architect. I cannot plan out my gardens like that, but Planter definitely has my back. This has become my go-to companion for gardens and I’ve been diligently looking thro ..read more
