The Right Prescription As one of the many cystic fibrosis patients around the globe, I think we can all commonly agree that medication and treatments have generally come a long way in the last thirty years or so. Especially for patients in nations who provide them with affordable access to healthcare. Upon my diagnosis back […]

Twenty Five Years Living with Cystic Fibrosis It’s September 2024 and I’m only now realising its over 25 years since my diagnosis with cystic fibrosis. June 1999, my school summer holidays, as I entered my final year of school education. My beloved football club, Manchester United, just won the treble a couple of weeks before […]

Travelling Outside Your Comfort Zone
As a couple who love travel, and who try to visit as many countries as possible, we have had to make some willing sacrifices over the years to make our travel dreams come true. When we first met we were both aged in our twenties. Not a care in the world, and always up for adventure. Fourteen years later this spirit for adventure and wish to explore still remains, but now aged in our forties, and mid thirties, we have noticed how our requirements and needs have changed when planning a trip away. Here are just some of the ways in whic ..read more

Azerbaijan Baku
So here we are, having made it to our final destination of our Caucasus adventure. The fascinating nation of Azerbaijan and its showpiece capital of Baku. We looked forward to visiting all new nations, and this was not an exception. We knew it was an oil rich nation lying on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Major sporting events, most notably the Formula One Grand Prix are now held here. Futuristic buildings mixed with the old give this city its character, according to what we previously researched. A former city of the old Soviet Union, but would we see as much evidence of this ..read more

Armenia Yerevan
Armenia Yerevan
Destination number two of our Caucasus adventure was the small, mountainous, landlocked country where we previously knew quite little about. After a fantastic time in neighbouring Georgia, this place had a hard act to follow, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. However our trip here certainly did start with a bang! Our few days in Armenia were, to say the least, eventful, and not always pleasant, but we definitely didn’t regret coming here. We were aware of the political instability in the region, more specifically its frosty relationship with its n ..read more

Belated Happy New Year to all, our first blog post in quite a while, well over a year to be exact! Fortunately, the travel has continued and the fight with cystic fibrosis, but other projects and daily living have gotten in the way. We have been very fortunate in the last couple of years to visit Ireland on a couple of occasions, Malta for a summer trip last year and in 2023 the beautiful island of Ibiza. As we all know travel has become a bit strange since the pandemic so getting away wasn’t as straightforward as it used to be. During this whole time we h ..read more

2022 What Lies Ahead?
Our first blog of 2022 and our first in quite a while. Like 2020, 2021 was a year of enjoying home comforts, with a trip to Poland being our only foreign getaway of the year. Yes, we were still lucky to getaway. We do count ourselves fortunate, but further travel plans were disturbed by the ongoing pandemic. January for us has always been a time to plan future travels and a time when we usually avail of an off-season getaway. The last couple of years have been different, however. This year we hope things will change but we won’t hold our breath. So goodbye 2021 and hello ..read more

Our first blog of 2021 and our first in a quite a while. As most of us around the globe are aware, unless you have been lucky enough to be hidden under a rock! We are in the midst of a global pandemic. Coronavirus, COVID 19, pain in the a$s, whatever you want to call it. It has changed how we live forever. As a cystic fibrosis patient and keen traveller this pandemic should really have caused chaos in my life. On the contrary, I have been quite fortunate to live a normal enough life with work, rest and play. As time now goes on and we are close to a calendar year of restrictions, it is time t ..read more

Stop the World I Want to Get Off
I’m holding no punches here and getting straight to the point. The world has officially gone mad! As this is a time of coronavirus, extraordinary times, pandemic, emergency, and heaven knows how many other names I’ve been sick of hearing in the last few months. This has been a time of firsts for many and a time for changes. Some good, but frankly many, in my belief, absolutely crazy. The phrase “Stop the World I Want to Get Off” has been thrown about by millennials and up there with drop the ball and first world problems. All very annoying phrases but strangel ..read more
