Our beloved Sarge has passed away, and yet again I'm left broken hearted.  I know I haven't posted since Stella's passing but will try and do better.  We did add a bundle of joy to our family since then, and we've been so fortunate to have Sarge show the new little guy the way of the bulldog world.  More on Captain on a later post. Sarge & Stella were litter mates, so they came to us at the same time.  And life with 2 puppies was absolutely insane for the first few weeks.  Since then, I've said you must be crazy to get 2 at a time...haha! Sarge was so fortunate t ..read more

I've dreaded the day that it would happen and hoped it was far off in the future, but it happened.  My sweet, stubborn, sassy tripawd passed away.  She had her appointment in June that showed the nodules in her lungs grew so we stopped the chemo pills.  She was continuing to do very well and be her spunky self.   I had an out of town trip and I was worried to leave her for such a long time and told Will to call me if anything funny happened.  Unfortunately on day 3 of my trip, I got the call that she had been throwing up multiple times and acting very lethargic. I deci ..read more

It's been busy around here - I turned 39!!  What?!  Only 1 year away from 40...and I'm looking forward to that awesome milestone, but I'm definitely freaked out by the number a bit.  I just have to remember that getting older is a blessing. I also had a CF appointment on my birthday week, and the conclusion of the Trikafta study I've been participating in.  I started the day getting a liver scan, then bloodwork - 12 vials ?.  Thankfully I did't have to fast for the oral glucose test since I had one in March for a different CF study.  Yay!  Next on the list wa ..read more

Wow - I'm really sucking at keeping this blog updated.  I guess the good news is that I'm feeling great, don't even think about having CF and busy living my life. Unfortunately my time is mostly spent caring for my bulldogs.  They are getting older and basically falling apart - when I think one is fine, the other has an issue and vice versa.  So I might as well turn this into a quick summary of me and a pupdate.   Janauary It was a pretty quiet month.  Will got Covid, but did fine.  We kept him quarantined to the pool house, so I managed not to get it! yay!   ..read more

Happy 2022! I don't know about you, but I'm happy for 2021 to be over.  It was a lot.  Lots of stress and worry that I didn't even realize I was having.  Then for one more punch before ending, Betty White passes away.  Damn. Since my last check in, here's a bit of what has been going on in our world. October - Stella had her 2 month post-chemo appointment and everything looked great.  She goes back this month for another follow up.  Plus a fun friend trip to celebrate our buddy Nate's 40th Birthday! Celebrating Nate at the Cherokee Casino Happy Ha ..read more

WOW - I have been really bad at keeping my blog updated.  Sorry friends! There isn't a whole lot to share, but the best news is that Stella has completed her chemo treatments and is doing great!  She goes back in October for more blood work and scans to see how she's looking. I had a CF appointment on September 15th.  It was probably the fastest appointment I've ever had!  Due to COVID, we weren't doing PFTs at clinic so I did mine using my home spirometer the afternoon before.  First I met with my respiratory therapist who was pleased with my PFTs, but reminded ..read more

My girl Stella is a BADASS.  She is handling life on 3 legs and chemo treatments like the champion I know she is. Quick catch-up on the diagnosis process.  We noticed a limp starting in January, but we figured she tweaked her knee (again).  We ended up at the vet for an x-ray and thats when we got the dreaded news that this was not a tweak of the knee.  We were referred to a specialist in Columbia, SC (an hour from us) so they could get a sample of the mysterious tissue growing around her leg bone.   We had to do 2 procedures to finally reach the outcome of osteosarco ..read more

Catching up on CF Appointments

Good gracious! It has been since March.  Not sure how that happened, but I guess I've just been busy with life. I'll do a quick catch up on my health and CF appointments.  I had an appointment in March and then again in June.   March was pretty quick and easy with not much to report.  June was a bit more intensive as I had some annual labs as well as my Trikafta study. Being that I'm vaccinated for COVID, I was able to do my PFTs in clinic.  In a pre-pandemic world, we would do our PFTs in our room, but since not everyone is doing them at clinic, I was able to go to th ..read more

I apologize for my silence the past few months.  I won't lie...it's been rough.  And now we are at the 1 year mark from when I started hunkering down due to Covid-19 (read here).   I never would have imagined that the past year was spent mostly at home (I'm sure a lot of people can relate). Thankfully my health has been great.  I've been on Trikafta for over a year now! WOW!!  What a great accomplishment and I'm so thankful for how it has made such an amazing impact on my life.  My lungs feel open and clear..and I hardly ever cough.  I'm still using my ..read more

Its been 26 days.  I don't know how that much time has passed, but yet it still seems like moments ago.  I've contemplated this post a million times, but whenever I start to type I shut down.  I've been hoping that if I don't acknowledge the truth that perhaps it isn't real.  I've never lost a family member so suddenly and shockingly.  I've only lost my grandparents, while still absolutely heartbreaking and life changing, I knew they were older and lived long lives...and in some cases their passing ended their pain and illness.  But this is different.  I neve ..read more
