A good shave can reveal a lot. A clean face, the shape of your jaw… and for some darkened skin. If you have noticed darker skin on your face from shaving it isn't just the lighting… it is indeed a "real thing" that may actually be happening to you! The rubbing or scraping action of the blades can cause minor cuts to the skin, causing "hyper-pigmentation", which is the skin's way of replacing color to the damaged area. Her ..read more

Many of my clients tell me (before I shave them) that they have sensitive skin. The first thing I ask is if their skin reacts to certain products that are applied to their skin. So what should you do? The most important recommendation I pass on to them is to keep the skin hydrated! Sure, we must remember to maximize the moisture on our skin when shaving, but during the day and night the skin also needs to s ..read more

Guys let's face it, shaving nicks are the worst! No one likes them and they take away tons of time when you're trying to head out the door, So here's a trick I use whenever i'm in this very bad situation.  Items needed: Cube of ice (1); alum block / or stick; styptic powder Step 1: Apply the ice cube to the nicked area for at least 15 seconds. (This slows down the bleeding.) Step 2: Apply a wet (run under cool water for a 1 sec.) alum block (or stick) to the affected area in a circular motion for at least 30 seconds. -- If 90% of the bleeding has not stopped continue for anothe ..read more

Here's why! It's an important step to keeping your face looking good and feeling great. It ranks just as high as shaving with a shave cream, and you know how important that is, right?   After-shave/post-shave products can be found in gel or lotion form; and are specifically designed to calm, moisturize and heal the skin from the aggressive nature of shaving. Many times your skin can feel dry and irritated after shaving. So, a post-shave product steps in to provide restorative skin-healing benefits just in time to handle tomorrow's shave. There are a plen ..read more
