Toledo is the capital of the Castilla La Mancha province and is situated in the beating heart of Spain, one of our favourite countries in Western Europe. Located just 70 kilometres (43 miles) south of Madrid, it’s easily accessible from the capital city.
As one of the most popular day trip options for tourists staying in Madrid, I’d say that this city is a standout. Sure, you could dabble between other options like Segovia and La Rioja, but Toledo oozes an unmatched ambience that even Barcelona can’t beat!
In this post, we are going to cover all the essential info for your trip including what ..read more

Why We Chose To Go On This Jet2 Package Holiday Trip
Firstly, let’s mention the elephant in the room when it comes to Jet2 Package Holidays… Yeah, we’re adventure travellers, we’ve ridden across Vietnam on motorbikes, hung 2000ft over a mountain pass in Switzerland, driven from Melbourne to Darwin and back in a junky-ass station wagon! The point is, we’re pretty well used to slumming it! In fact, we’ve spent the vast majority of our 10 married years living in hostels, taking night buses and living out of backpacks … were kinda your classic dirtbags.
The thing is, we’re now in our m ..read more

After visiting Angkor and the amazing temples of Siem Reap you might be wondering what else there is to do in the small city. The temples might dominate most visitors agendas and indeed the majority of their time here, and rightly so, but if you want to escape the flashing lights of Pub Street and the crowds of Angkor then heading over to the floating villages is a great way to see the real Cambodia. But we warned, not all floating villages are equal, some are once again a tourist trap… we decided to head out to the furthest: Kampong Khleang where we found ourselves to be the only visitor ..read more

Despite being well-seasoned travellers, China being our 45th country and having just completed 4 months in Eastern Europe we have yet to come across many scams. We are not the naïve first time traveller but at the same time we consider many of the regions we have been to as being well known for their honesty. Coming over to China then was a rude awakening, after 26 hours of travel and over 24 hours being awake we fell for our first scam within hours of us touching down on Chinese soil! Luckily we got off lightly but this made us much more aware of the scams china commonly has on the go… here w ..read more

Surfing, the archetypal Aussie pastime, something I tried way back in 2010 on a blistering Newquay beach in freezing waters and something I’ve dreamt of doing again in Australia. The first time on the waves I decided to just rent a board and give it a go, as a skateboarder I figured it wouldn’t be too hard! After taking to it quite well I was desperate to give it another go, this time though we decided to learn the ropes properly, take a lesson and tackle the warm Queensland waves finally! Here are the different options for surf lessons Australia for helping you decide which way to go abo ..read more

The National 3 Peaks Challenge is a rite of passage for many keen hikers and mountaineers in the UK and beyond. Tackling the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in a mad dash 24 hrs is both mentally and physically challenging. It’s a dream to complete for many who have scaled some of Britain’s best peaks and often is completed as part of a charity challenge. Whilst it can be a gruelling prospect to climb these 3 mountains over just a single day, trudging through the night and battling the unpredictable British weather, it is however not as daunting as prospect as you might think ..read more

Hamburg is often overlooked when it comes to city breaks in Germany. Whilst most flock to Berlin or even down to Munich the Northern Port city isn’t always on the list, and even when it is people want to do Hamburg in a day. I first visited on work experience from University by chance as I happen to have family there and have visited a few times since and fallen in love! In truth just One day in Hamburg isn’t nearly enough time but it seems to be the most searched option and the most likely for a lot of visitors passing through on their way elsewhere… so we have endeavored to plan for your the ..read more

Milan is somewhere that often gets overlooked when people plan a trip to Italy, it’s often described as boring and expensive and with so much else to see across the country it’s a shame it often goes unvisited. But with cheap flights available on budget airlines from the UK to Milan we chose it as our first stop on our 4 month backpacking leg around Europe and our first port of call in Italy. What we found was a glorious, sophisticated, historic and beautiful city that was the perfect start to our adventure. We recommend spending two days in Milan to see the highlights of this stylish city, a ..read more
