Living The Mamma Mia Life – Sailing The Greek Islands
The 20 Something Detour

If you’ve been tossing up whether or not to take a week out and live your Mamma Mia fantasy sunning it up on a yacht amongst the Greek Islands – Just. Friggin’. Do. It. I cannot explain how amazing this trip was and how much I want to replicate this exact week in the near future. Now, you may have heard of Yacht Week, (especially if you’re a 20-Something and enjoy the liquor and the travel) that’s the week (or more likely few months) a year that bikini clad girls and shirtless males head to Greece, Croatia or Turkey, clamber onto a boat and drink a hell of a lot while seeing some of the most ..read more

My African Safari – What Camping in the Serengeti NP is Really Like

Experiencing a real African game drive is something that has been on my bucket list for a very, very long time. In the last few years as I have begun to appreciate nature, hiking, the environment, animals and the outdoors more and more through my travels to different continents, I couldn’t wait to see the great African animals where they should be. As my African adventure was a part of a bigger trip where I was visiting five different continents, I didn’t overly plan much more than booking my game drive and flights. I had no idea what to expect and it ended up being so much more awe-inspiring ..read more

A Bali Escape – What You Can’t Miss

Bali, Indonesia is a beautiful and very popular destination for a relaxing tropical getaway. There are countless blogs and websites detailing itineraries and fun things to do. Just make sure you don’t miss these eight things. 1.Spend A Day With The Monkeys Probably very overdone in Bali photos… but I wanted that damn monkey on the shoulder shot okay! We headed to The Monkey Forest in Ubud and we had so much fun with the little mischievous monkeys. They are greedy and love their bananas so watch out. You also do not get a say in which monkey decides he wants your banana (there’s a joke there s ..read more

Living on a Sand Island (and why you should visit)

It’s been a crazy two months living it up on my own tropical island. So many changes and new faces and a new timetable and climate to get accustomed to that I haven’t felt the words to write what I’ve been up to or what I’ve been feeling. But as it’s the new year, and I’m finally finding my footing on this little sand island, I thought I would celebrate all of the wonderful little moments I’ve had over the past few months living on Fraser Island. Leaving one of the most popular cities in the world (London) to move to a remote island off the coast of Australia (with a population of 200) is def ..read more

Trekking the Sapa Rice Fields
The 20 Something Detour

As most travellers do when researching the best things to do in Vietnam- I had trekking the Sapa rice fields as one of my top anticipated things to experience. Both Halong Bay boat tours and the three day Sapa trekking trips are the most popular tours to be done in the north of Vietnam and throughout the capital of Hanoi there are literally hundreds of tour groups and travel agents begging you to book through them. Each boast about their ‘authentic’ homestay experience and most include a local guide, food and accomodation throughout the trip. I had heard varying accounts of the authenticity of ..read more

Continuing The Detour – On To The Next Adventure

To any of you that have been following my travels over the past few years, you’ll know that I’ve been lucky enough to call London my home for the past two years. I have loved everything about living in this crazy huge city (with the exception of spending the morning in a squished tube with my nose up in some stranger’s sweaty armpit) and I do feel I’ve embraced my time in this beautiful place the best that I possibly could. However, as my visa has begrudgingly come to an end (and a quickie wedding to an Englishman is not looking that favorable) I have had to plan my next adventure. So where ..read more

Living the Van Life in Wales

Ever wanted to pack all of your possessions in van (preferably a pretty VW Kombi in a pastel colour) with one of your best friends and road trip to a new country? For a number of years a traveler friend and I have put it on our bucket list that we’ll buy a van and live the van life after returning from living in London. Apparently, we couldn’t wait that long and decided to give it a go on a long weekend road trip through Wales. We hired a car and after a few scary minutes of each of us remembering how to drive (I hadn’t driven a car in over a year and a half) we were on our way from London to ..read more

Seven Sisters Coastal Hike, U.K.

For my first ever hike in the U.K. (yes, a long time coming since I moved here over a year and a half ago!) I wanted something coastal, with great views, fresh air and within easy travelling distance of London. I decided on a Seven Sisters & Beachy Head hike that gave me all of the above (and I chose a bloody perfect day to boot!). I cannot tell you how amazing it felt to get out of London for a day, move my body and breathe in the fresh coastal air! As I grew up on the bayside in Brisbane, Australia – heading back to the ocean always seems to make me feel better no matter what has been g ..read more

When the Weather Ruins Your Travel Plans
The 20 Something Detour

You can have every little detail of your trip planned. Every hotel, every transfer, every activity and day tour booked, but some days ol’ mother nature decides to come by and ruin your plans. To say the weather I had on my last trip to Galway, Ireland was dreary is a colossal understatement. During the three days my friend and I spent in Galway, we truly experienced the famous Irish (bad) weather. The rains were well and truly there. We left sunny London (yes- sunny for once!) and arrived in Galway to meet up with our other friends who had arrived a day early. They told us of the amazing sunn ..read more

Chasing Dragons & Clear Skies in Ljubljana, Slovenia

Ljubljana, Slovenia is one of those gorgeous little towns that are better known as a base town for a more popular site not far from the city (in this case, the beautiful Lake Bled). However, Ljubljana is more than just a name that no one can pronounce (FYI – it’s lyoo-BLYAH-nah phonetically…). I spent three solo days in the sunshine discovering Ljubljana and taking advantage of the 2 Euro Prosecco. What To Do: Walk up to the castle on the hill. No need to pay to get into this castle- all of the viewing spots are free and the one or two rooms are not really worth the money. The walk up and dow ..read more
