India will soon have another airline. (Fly91 from Goa was the latest addition). UAE based businessmen have planned to launch a regional carrier called Air Kerala. As per their official website airkerala.com, the airline has got some initial permissions from the Government to launch a carrier. However airline is yet to setup aircrafts, crew and decide on their destinations & pricing. Air Kerala will be launched as a low cost carrier, offering economical tickets. Air Kerala seems to be interested in inducing ATR 72 aircrafts to start with- these single aisle, no middle seat aircrafts are goo ..read more

Bengaluru folks, cheap ticket to Kuala Lumpur available on Batik Air for March 2025. Plan well and save Batik Air was full service airline unlike AirAsia, but now they also have started charging extra. Cheapest fare won't get you any food or checked bag. You can chose slightly more expensive fare type or pay extra. Cheaper tickets also available to other destinations in Malaysia like Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi I've flown Batik Air from Chennai to Bali and the service was good. Available for various other dates as well, you've to check yourself. Malaysia is visa free for Indians till end ..read more

Recently a report listed Air India as the world's worst airline when it comes to losing passenger's checked in bags. Air India loses as many as 33000+ bags every month across its network. I was trying to calculate how many flights Air India operates per day. This information is NOT readily available online, so I had to try to calculate myself: Below are my assessment Air India has about 145 planes, serves 37 international and 44 domestic destinations. Around 60 wide body planes and rest are narrow body. International destinations are served at max 1 flight per day, often only 3-4 days a week ..read more

WizzAir India launch: expectations, initial thoughts
The Airline Blog

WizzAir is a popular low cost airline in Europe. I've flown this airline from Athens to Budapest in 2023, Athens to Tirana in 2024. WizzAir flies to Middle East from Europe, so we do get cheap flights to Athens and Budapest from Abu Dabhi. It was possible to fly to Europe from India for about 22000 INR return via AUH. But Wizzair don't have any codeshare with airlines operating to India so we need to clear immigration in AUH, check in bags again etc, adding to cost, time, effort and risk of delay, making the whole proposition not very practical. Now the news is WizzAir is planning direct flig ..read more

GulfAir won't accept return tickets with other airlines

Recently a circular was seen floating on internet in which Gulf Air instructed its frontline staff not to accept/give boarding pass to customers who do not have a return ticket with Gulf Air. A copy of the circular below, as tweeted by a twitter user Priyesh Sharma. While Gulf air's motive for this rule could be that in case a passenger is deported, all countries need airline which brought that person into the country should take him/her back. If passenger has already bought a return ticket airline's cost of transporting him/her back is covered. But this is a very low probability- maybe one ou ..read more

I am tracking flight tickets to Fiji since pre-covid days. The cheapest I had seen Mumbai to Nadi was around 62000-66000 INR. But post covid I wasn't able to find anything in that price bracket. Everything was touching close to a lakh. Recently spotted Kochi to Nadi return ticket for around 72-73k INR, which seems like a good deal. Update: Hyderabad to Nadi is available for 65k INR return on Makemytrip. Fiji is too far- over 10 hours of flying from Singapore and not many airlines operate Most convenient option is to fly one stop via Singapore or Hongkong, where you reach Singapore or HK on S ..read more

Return ticket to Japan are available for under 39k on ANA or All Nippon Airlines. I found one for October 18-Nov 08. Need to try different month combinations to find other suitable dates. This 38500 INR is cheaper than what ANA's own marketing team has advertised- their ad says Mumbai Japan is from 39700 INR 40k is NOT the cheapest- Air Asia or VietJet Air at times sell ticket to Japan for around 33-35k INR during their sales. But you've to pay extra for bags, meals etc. However, ANA is worth it due to below reasons Direct flight, no long layover in Vietnam or Malaysia Full service ai ..read more

4 reasons why Delhi airport is a benchmark
The Airline Blog

There are specific reasons why I like Delhi airport and wish other airports in India take Delhi airport as a benchmark and follow the guidelines. 1. Drinking water for city prices I could buy a bottle of drinking water for just 10 INR (500 ml), which is same as city price. Vending machines inside Delhi airport sell stuff at MRP, which is great. Most airports a bottle of water will cost 50 to 100 INR 2. Assurance that everything is same as city prices 3. Great metro connectivity Delhi airport has great metro connectivity to city, saving us thousands of rupees on taxi expenses. Mumbai has metr ..read more

Delhi Cambodia direct flight, 23k return with bag
The Airline Blog

So far India didn't have a direct flight to Cambodia. We had to fly one stop via Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam or Thailand.  How there is an option. A Cambodia based airline has announced direct flight between New Delhi and Pnom Penh, Cambodia. A return ticket will cost about 270 USD or 23000 INR. CambodiaAngkorAir is not a low cost airline. The ticket price includes one check in bag of 23 kg. But I understand food is for purchase (around 6 to 12 USD) Points to note: The India-Cambodia flight is subject to Govt approvals I find it strange that CambodiaAngkorAir has chosen to fly to ..read more
