CAPSULE WARDROBE FALL AUTUMN September 2020 | My Over 50 Fashion Life

A quick post to share a capsule wardrobe that I have put together for September.  I wanted to get this out to you so those that do follow the capsule know what we are wearing in September,  and those of you who haven't played along before,  well, hey why not, haha. Our UK weather is so up and down that I have learned that its best to keep the capacity to add to the capsule during the month.  An immovable set just does not work for me.  This time my capsule allows me that room to add 7 more items during the month.  This capsule is generic and replicatable. So it happened! A haircut. well 2 but we will come on to that.  You would think that after more than 3 months it would be a full-on dye, cut, blowdry, primp, beach waves, toner,  highlights,  lowlights stylefest costing in excess of £150. Well, no, it was a £20 trim. Say what! Having gone as far as I have with grey growing out and hair long enough for a ponytail I decided that I didn't want to lose that long won gain.  And I'm not alone. I'm hearing on Instagram and in real life that many of us are now going grey, staying grey and just having a trim.  What is that g ..read more

Match Made In Seven - We Are Allowed Out-Out

Welcome to the monthly edition of  Match made in Seven. We are an international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie. And then we style an outfit based on that theme. The theme of this month is We are Allowed Out Out chosen by moi. I had anticipated that at some point in the summer we would be breaking out of our homes and meeting 'real people.' Family, friends, customers, colleagues.  It hasn't come to the UK in a great unveiling. We have done this steady-steady.  &nb ..read more

It behooves us I say, yes, it behooves us to shop for clothes.  Who am I kidding!  But let's run with this.  I want to consider the packers, the delivery drivers, the choices, the competition (if all the stores disappeared and we only had Amazon our world would be poorer for choice) and with the shops opening now, we need to consider the staff in-store and their employment. You would not believe how sad I was that I missed a text from my daughter, whilst I was in town doing some banking, requesting that I pick up for her some more Tea tree skincare from Boots.  Yes ..read more

This post contains a gifted item for review I don't know about you but I'm finding enthusiasm for clothes and outfits diminishing by the day. I'm posting so much less on Instagram, and when I do it's more a lifestyle picture, and really it's only my capsule wardrobe project that is ensuring that I get dressed.  As I sit in my new world home office I'm noticing nature and I'm not alone. My husband has bought a bird table and so we are seeing Starlings, Robins and blackbirds visit.  I've even discovered we have a local pair of Greater spotted Woodpeckers.  I had never seen one ..read more

What to Wear Out, Sunburn and Link Up

In pondering on what to share with you this week I realised that whilst I haven't gone very far recently I have actually been getting dressed. Yet I haven't shared with you my recent around the house clothes. You will find that rectified under Wearing,  below.  The ability to now drive further afield and to meet one family member led me to meet my brother a few Saturdays ago.   This is the video of the outfit decision making process and some of the drive.   Since then my car has broken irrepairably and I am in the process of sourcing an alternative.  ..read more

June Capsule Wardrobe for the Over 50s
Mutton Years Style and I

It may be a timely moment to share my June capsule wardrobe with you.  I am not one for fast fashion and my purchases tend to be for longevity as you know if you have been reading me for a while.  I, therefore, do not favour a capsule in the sense of you only own a capsule wardrobe. Of course not,  I have spent far too much on clothes over the years, and still wear them,  to declutter my closet away. Instead, I am just talking about putting together 35 or so clothes that are readily available for me to wear in June.   To do this I referred to my June outfits of ..read more
