MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – A group of renters in Miami Gardens are being given an ultimatum: pay a steep increase or move out.  But CBS4 spoke with one couple who received a notice a little bit different. “It was all nice.  And it was all nice until we got here,” says Ronnie Lewis, a renter at The Pomelo. Flood insurance rates expected to soar for thousands of South Floridians as hurricane season begins

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – June 1st kicks off Hurricane season, and this year hundreds of thousands of homeowners on South Florida will see their flood insurance rate spike. FEMA rolled out its Risk Rating 2.0 system on April 1st, which for the first time in 50 years, changes how the agency assesses a property’s flood risk. Police investigate fatal double shooting in NE Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – North Miami police are investigating a double murder. The shooting happened just before midnight Tuesday on the 136th block of Northeast 3rd Court. Both victims were found inside of a black BMW SUV outside of an apartment complex. A witness said he heard a rapid series of 10 shots fired about 11:45 p.m. Family members were seen lighting candles where orange paint marked the spot of the victim’s car. KEY WEST (CBSMiami) – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission has identified the woman killed in a parasailing accident in the Keys Monday. According to FWC, weather conditions took a turn for the worse, causing the parasail chute to become controlled by the wind and not the boat operator. With the parasail pegged, the term for when the vessel is no longer in control of the chute, FWC said “the Captain cut the line tethered to three victims.” Shortly after, the three victims then collided with the Old Seven Mile Bridge.
