1 don't know if this considered Retro enough, but 10 years ago Rovio released a game (I only remembered it's name yesterday which is RETRY) which has a retro design but for the past couple of years I couldn't find it on the official mobile stores (apparently it was deleted by the company), yesterday I found it in another store and I cannot be happier submitted by /u/shawermawithnopotato [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What was wrong with Wizards and Warriors 3?

Just curious as I often hear fans of the first two games praising them, but then when I look back at the third entry, it seems to be the black sheep of the series, and so I wanted to get a better understanding of what exactly was wrong with the game. submitted by /u/KaleidoArachnid [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

His name is RYOUITIO OKUBO. He worked at Namco in Japan for from what we know 1980 to 1985. He is in the game code of Battle City. No website, basically nothing as far as I know has documented on his existence, but he made an amazing tank game for the Dendy. Please help me find this man, just knowing what he looks like would be sick. submitted by /u/SL13MY [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'd really like to enjoy more 90's RPGS that have never came to the US.

I'm kinda afraid to make this topic because I fear that people will just dismiss me because I don't like one of their faves. Please prove that I have nothing to fear, and know that I want you to keep liking the games that you like. Liking stuff is a good thing! I've finally come to the realization that I don't like many SNES RPGs(or 90's rpgs on other systems) that never came to the US, I've had really bad luck finding ones that I like, and I've tried a lot of em. The only 2 that I can think of that I've enjoyed are Front Mission: Gun Hazard and DQ6. Here's some that I've tried that I don't l ..read more

So I just discovered Boogie Wings, and it's become one of my favorite arcade shoot 'em ups ever made (and fun even for people who don't like shmups!)...

Boogie Wings (also known as "The Great Ragtime Show" in Japan) is a 1991 shoot 'em up from Data East that involves flying a World War I biplane in a world filled with airships and ground vehicles. I've played it before, but never past the first stage. And boy, was I wrong not to keep going with it - it's one of the craziest arcade games I've ever encountered, and unlike anything I've ever played. Imagine Gunstar Heroes combined with Metal Slug and U.N. Squadron and you sort of get this game, but it's also so much more. https://preview.redd.it/k63i20dcc5vc1.png?width=320&format=png&a ..read more

For all the great things about retro games, region locking/exclusives has to have been one of the greatest shortcomings of the era

One of the greatest things about modern gaming is that there is almost no such thing as a game that isn't released worldwide anymore. No matter how obscure the genre, it's really simple for a developer to release the game globally because of digital distribution channels and universal display standards. I didn't really appreciate this until I (a resident of North America) was trying to go back and play some retro cricket sports games. Good lord. Apparently no cricket games were released for console outside the EU and Australia until 2015. That's right. 2015. For the PS4. So by this sub's rule ..read more

How to change input without remote for an old Proscan PS32108

Bought this from a retro games store and it didn’t come with a remote. I’ve been using the tv menu buttons but nothing suggests an input. I have plugged in the av/component cables or whatever you call them that your PS2s and GameCubes have but I have no idea how to get it to work. I’ve read the owners manual from some website and gotten nowhere. If anyone can help me out without me having to take this heavy ass thing back or buying a pricey remote replacement that might not even work from a website I have no idea if it’s legit (remotes.net) then I would really appreciate it. submitted b ..read more
