Our dear Juno will always be missed, that I know for sure. We said our goodbye in early January of this year after her sudden loss. The tears flow less frequently now unless I’m deep in memory. Those first few weeks I was looking for comfort in the things around me and to help our two daughters navigate our loss. They both felt their grief differently of course. I’ve put together a few meaningful ideas that have helped us say goodbye to our sweet Juno and keep her memory alive. I thought I would share them with you as a resource should you need.   Juno Jar   A good friend of mine su ..read more

Posed or Action?

When I am capturing a client gallery I am always thinking variety. I love being able to freeze in time all those split second moments when a dog is in action or at play but at the same time I also adore those timeless posed images. I some times find it hard to choose if I like posed (dog looking at the camera not in motion) or action better. I will always capture variety but I am curious what people prefer….If you could only choose one image of your dog, what would you choose? A ‘posed’ image or an action image? (I use the term ‘posed’ loosely as often they are captured when a dog is doing som ..read more

Last fall I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Marcson Homes and interior designer Kristine of Inner Cue Designs (InnerCueDesign@shaw.ca) to create a custom art display for their newest showhome “The Marcus”. Working with a home builder was something I’ve had on my mind for years so to make this a reality was incredible! This home design is a special one because it is named in loving memory of Tracy’s dear horse, Marcus. The session we did with Marcus was a very difficult one. He had developed a sudden illness and sadly had to be euthanized the following day. The image below was t ..read more

I still remember…

There is an image that I took while I was holding my daughter, Isla when she was 12 days old. I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of love. I so very much enjoyed the baby stage. I loved everything about holding her and caring for her. I loved watching her sleep and feeling her warmth as I held her. I remember the filtered light coming through the window on this day. I made a conscious decision in my mind to remember this feeling. I took a picture in hope that years down the road, viewing this image would bring me right back to that emotion, so far it has. (Isla, 12 days old, July 28, 2014 ..read more

There is a place where love lives always…

“We can’t know why some things happen….but we can know that love and beautiful memories outlast the pain of grief.  And we can know that there’s a place inside the heart where love lives always….and where nothing beautiful can ever be forgotten.” Those words were printed on the front of the card I received from a close friend shortly after my dear horse parted this earth. I have kept those words with me to this day. They have comforted me and helped me to understand and to move forward. The loss of an animal can indeed have an impact on your life. I still tear up as I write this.  ..read more

One year with Meowzer

Today marks one year. The official date we signed the adoption papers and committed to her as part of our family. At the time we weren’t even looking for a fur friend of the feline variety but my heart said the choice was right. It had only been about a month after the miscarriage of our second child and maybe my heart was looking for something to fill it. I was nervous to make the wrong decision. My husband was initially not on board and was hesitant. I for one am actually allergic to cats, well most cats any way. Her coat type was so similar to the two we had growing up that I thought there ..read more
