Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunting game that involves using GPS-enabled devices, such as smartphones or handheld GPS receivers, to search for hidden containers, called geocaches, in outdoor locations around the world.
The containers can vary in size and shape, from small plastic containers to large ammo cans, and can be hidden in various types of locations, such as parks, forests, urban areas, and even underwater.
The locations of the geocaches are recorded on geocaching websites or apps, which also provide clues and hints to help players locate them.
When a geocache is found, the pla ..read more

Pre Xmas I sat and thought about some options for a Xmas market, which I had always longed to see and decided pretty much in a couple of moments that I was going to head to Europe and spend a few days. Only problem was, where and how to get there!
Long story short I chose Bruges (Shortlist was Cologne and Brussels, along with a couple in France) and drove down with a ferry from Dover to Calais. The journey was incredibly easy with Bruge being just over an hour from Calais.
I felt I did Bruge justice in the 48hrs I was there and picked up lots of Earth caches, some virtuals but only one traditi ..read more

Recently I have been in the Lake District again, Keswick to be accurate and had the chance to enjoy all that area has to offer. Its not my first visit but I am drawn to the area for its natural beauty, lots of things to do and see and of course, some great geocaching which here in particular gets you places you would not normally visit.
Keswick sits right in the heart of the Lakes, at the very tip of Derwent Water, providing the perfect location for those looking to scale some of the mountains that surround you or take to the water itself. The town is a walkers paradise, with shops along the p ..read more

I have Scotland in my blood, quite literally. Half of my family hail from Greenock and so any mention of Scotland has me sitting and dreaming of historic cities, wide open landscapes and beautiful scenery.
Therefore I was filled with glee when a job came up at work which required a visit to Edinburgh, which is always a real treat. A quick look at some dates meant with some careful booking of annual leave my 1hr job in Scotland could be turned into a three day stay. Then my mind turned to one thing, geocaching and in particular, the Earth Cache at Arthurs Seat.

With lockdown well and truly over, in August 2021 I ventured yet again to London for some caching (after breakfast at Borough Market of course)!
Fantastically organised at Westminster Central Hall, this was a great day out.

Not many people will tell you that they are enjoying lockdown but it has to be said, for me personally, I am actually having a lot of fun.
As a key-worker my forays into the capital, although not so frequent at the moment, are a lot of fun, with light traffic, easy parking and no queues in Pret a Manger
So, this time I was off to St Johns Wood, not somewhere I had wandered before, so I was excited to see what was about. When I saw ‘what’ of course I mean Geocaches. On to the map.
For those that don’t know, SJW is in North West London, close enough to the centre to walk and a quick Google thr ..read more

One of the main reasons I like to Geocache is the opportunity to visit certain locations where previously I would not normally have ventured.
So on a sunny June day I found myself with a little time to kill and enough of a gap in my schedule to haul myself of the to Dover and a closer look at the much fabled ‘white cliffs’
White Cliffs of Dover
An iconic British Landmark, my visit was made a little more poignant due to recent passing of Vera Lynn who of course sang about this majestic location.

Clare sits not far from its more ‘famous’ cousins of Long Melford and Lavenham in the heart of Suffolk but is equally as beautiful and holds special memories for me as somewhere near to where I grew up.
As an old Wool town, Clare has kept alive some its traditional features and is somewhere you could easily lose yourself for a day exploring the many antique shops, cafes and pubs.
Clare also boast the purpose of todays visit, the remains of Clare Castle which date back to William the Conqueror and which boasts 36 acres of beautiful Suffolk riverside countryside to explore.
The park has a lively ..read more
