Congratulations to Willow, the winner of my 2024 Pet of the Year contest. Besides the bragging rights, Willow’s family won an $895 wall art credit to spend on any past or future session!
Willow came prepared to celebrate her big win!
I’ve been honoured to photograph Willow as she grew up, from her first puppy session to her first birthday and her Tails of the World book session on the beach. Since she’s just about the cutest (and sweetest!) dog ever, I thought you might enjoy seeing some highlights from her sessions.
Some hilarious action from Willow’s autumn puppy session.

The 2024 Pet of the Year Finalists.
I know that 2024 was a year of struggle for many, so I almost feel bad saying it, but it was a pretty great year for me.
I got to photograph so many amazing pets and make some wonderful pet lovers very happy, but I guess those things are a given because I have the best job EVER.
Beyond that, I achieved some personal and professional goals and had a few fantastic firsts. One of those highlights was having my first opportunity ever to photograph the Northern Lights, not a common occurrence in Southern New Brunswick! Even more amazing was that I had multiple o ..read more

My vibrant edit of two pugs on the beach at sunset for the Hair of the Dog Academy Edit-Palooza Summit.
There are times —like in journalism— when it’s important to maintain the integrity of an unaltered image. Pet photography is not that time.
Using Photoshop allows me to safely photograph pets on leash, and remove that leash later to deliver a flawless portrait to the client. Photoshop allows me to create an image of multiple pets together, even when they don’t get along. It allows me to remove lumps, bumps, incisions, and scars. Most of all, photoshop allows me to make a scene look MORE lik ..read more

The results are in from the 2024 Eastern Image Competition by the Professional Photographers of Canada. I had two images achieve scores of Excellence (the highest score), and they both also won Best in Class awards!
The Eastern competition includes members from Ontario, Quebec, and all 4 Atlantic provinces, so there is some extremely tough competition. There were so many amazing images, it’s a huge honour to have won in my two favourite classes, Animals and Fine Art. I also received the Bruce Berry Award for Best General Print by a member from the Atlantic Provinces.

I thought I had all the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada) Accreditations I wanted, but then they went and added the Animal Study Class, so of course I had to add it to my collection. I’m pleased to announce that my submission was successful, with an overall score of Very Good, so I now have my thirteenth PPOC Accreditation!
The Animal Study Accreditation required me to submit 5 photos of each of 2 animals, showing a wide variety in poses, locations, and lighting conditions. I was fortunate to have had so many beautiful pets to choose from - the hardest part was choosing which two to ..read more
