Topline evaluation?

I’m trying to learn more about how to evaluate the musculature and topline, please tell me what you see in this. It’s not my horse but a horse I ride once or twice a week, there are others who ride her and she’s 20. I feel her topline esp around the withers could be filled more so I’ve been working her long and low+ polework+long reining+stretches to try help with it. She did struggle with long and low when we first started as she tends to stick her head up but we’ve seen decent progress. Sorry if the angle is a bit funky, second pic is taken with 0.5x camera. submitted by /u/cuntsuperb ..read more

Hey friends! I hope I am allowed to ask about a trainer, Jeremy Steinberg. He will be coming to my area for a clinic soon and I have the opportunity to take a lesson with him. At a previous clinic with another trainer, many people knew him or knew of him, and had positive things to say about him. After a quick google search he seems like a good person to take a lesson with, and I'm always down to have another perspective about my riding as long as they seem credible, which he does. I wanted to see if anyone else had a ride with him in the past. Did you like him? Why or why not? After my lesso ..read more

hi guys, when i go to lunge my pony he is extremely badly behaved. he rears kicking his front legs at me buck at me almost trying to hurt me. he never rears any other time or kick out. before we bought him the vet lounged him and he he was fiery and very sensitive when being lunged almost like he had a bad experience previously as the whip couldn’t be brought near him, however he wasn’t rearing or bucking i lunged him in the field earlier and he was extremely danger so i just gave up. Is this just bad behaviour because he doesn’t want lounged or could there be an underlying problem? submitte ..read more

What ground work can i do with a specifically tall hot strong spooky jumper mare with a flight response?? For reference im 5’5 and she’s 17.1 hands, basically turns into a giraffe when something catches her eye. This is something important for me to do since it concerns our safety. please feel free to leave extra advice and stuff! i appreciate every bit of information ?? She is worse on the ground than when ridden. When being led, she normally looks around head up high and keeps walking or she could freeze and then explode ? I have knots on her lead rope so i don’t lose hold of her. I know sh ..read more

Equestrian parents with young children

Hello! I am looking to hear from other parents who ride and spend a fair amount of time at the barn and who maybe also show, how they either involve their small children or balance childcare. Talking specifically ages 1.5-3, are you bringing them with you to the barn and to shows? Or trying to find a babysitter? I want to have my son involved but I’m just not sure what that looks like, I don’t give him a tablet so thats not an option. Just looking to hear from other parents on how they involve their young kids in the horse world. Thank you! submitted by /u/waterbug21 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
