5 Lessons I’ve Learned From My Equestrian Mental Coach Hey, everyone! Do you remember that, more or less, two years ago, I shared with you that I was seeing an equestrian mental coach to overcome my anxiety on horse shows? When Gali’s colic problems started, I stopped the sessions, not because I felt I didn’t need them but mostly because I wasn’t competing and I had many vet bills to pay. Thankfully, Gali’s recovery was amazing and we have been competing consistently for a few months now. However, as soon as I started going to shows again, the anxiety came back and I felt I wasn’t handling i ..read more

Horse Girl Thoughts

Horse Girl Thoughts Albeit the coronavirus didn’t let me do everything I had planned for the Summer, or at least as freely as I was used to, I can’t say the past months haven’t been fun. Besides feeling like I’ve been on a break from my Master’s for ages and having the time to grow professionally, I also had a ton of time to spend with the ponies. However, not all moments were incredibly fun as Gali scared me right at the beginning of the Summer (I thought he was having another colic but fortunately it was nothing – knock on the wood!) and, then, about a month ago, he formed a hoof abscess w ..read more

Review: Shavings Fork With Telescopic Shaft by V-Plast Hey, everyone! Do you remember I ordered a shavings fork with a telescopic shaft by V-Plast from Divoza Horseworld a few months ago? Well, I promised you as soon as I received it that I would write a review and after using it (and letting Gali’s groom use it too) for a while, I’ve got some pros and cons to share with you! There were a few reasons why I chose this fork over a traditional one. Firstly, at my barn, forks tend to mysteriously disappear so it was obvious to me that I had to buy a color that was either weird or loud! The seco ..read more

My Equestrian Life When I wake up early in the morning to go to the stables I never really know what my day there will look like. The only thing I usually know is that I like to go as early as possible because I always end up being there for much longer than what I need. Besides taking ages to groom and tack up, it’s completely obvious that half of my time is spent chatting with my friends about horses – it’s ridiculous, we are always together but we always have something new to talk about and we always find new stuff to do! On the day these photos were taken I (kinda) was in a rush. I had ..read more

#ROOTD: Quarantine Routine

#ROOTD: Quarantine Routine Hey, everyone! Although these photos were taken before the coronavirus lockdown, I only had enough free time to sit in front of my computer to write this blog post today. We are living very strange times as horse owners. My first month of lockdown was insane because instead of staying home, I had to go to the barn to take care of Gali as his groom was sick and, as you know, Gali requires special care so I couldn’t ask a random person to do it. Since the barn managers limited the number of people who could go to the barn to take care of the horses and since they kn ..read more

#ROOTD: Lucky Green Kingsland Set Hi, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and safe at home! Today’s blog post is about riding Gali again after his second surgery and wearing this lucky green Kingsland set I promised I would wear on my first time back in the saddle! March 7th was a super special day. On the night before I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep. By 6 am I was already awake, getting ready to go to the barn and organizing our matching outfits. I waited months – 5, to be precise – until I could ride Gali and looking at the “lucky” green set reminded me that when I received it f ..read more

COVID-19 Prevention for Equestrians Are you scared about the COVID-19 outbreak? So am I! We are all scared about the possibility of a forced quarantine. As a horse owner, I’m very concerned about not being able to properly feed my horse or exercise him – honestly, due to Gali’s colic problems, this terrifies me! This is why I’ve decided to write this blog post which includes a few precautions that equestrians should consider to avoid coronavirus. Please note that I’m not a doctor, I’ve just adapted these from the World Health Organization’s recommendations. Stay Home: If your trai ..read more

wehorse – Online Riding Academy Hey, everyone! You know that I’ve been out of the saddle since September due to Gali’s second colic surgery. Now that I’ve just started riding him again, I feel rusty but I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to get us both back in shape. That’s why I’ve accepted wehorse‘s invitation to try their online riding academy. I’ve always wanted to test this type of service but the covered topics didn’t seem relevant enough to me or, in other cases, the plans were too expensive for my budget. However, at wehorse I was able to find the (more than) perfect ..read more

Gali’s Lunging Program – I’m So Proud Hey, everyone! It’s been a hot minute since my last blog post. During January I had my first Master’s finals – which went great, thankfully – and then I only had a free week before starting the new semester last week. You’re probably here to read more about Gali but I also want to tell you that I’ve started working for two equestrian companies. I’m in charge of their marketing and communication. It has been an amazing experience, I love being able to combine my two biggest passions! Moving on to explain why I chose this title, you know that Gali had his ..read more

See ya, 2019…Hi, new decade! Looking back into 2019, I could easily say it was a year to forget. I started the year without Gali, as he was still at the hospital recovering from his first colic surgery and he only came home on January, 4th. Following the surgery, there were months of vet checks and hard work before he was 100% healed. Then, in September, the nightmare was back and Gali ended up having a second surgery in October. Now, we still have a full recovery ahead. I would consider myself a hypocrite if I told you that, even if by just a few seconds, I didn’t think that giving up woul ..read more
