deBolex Engineering’s latest work sees the Royal Enfield Interceptor turned into a stylish alpine rally support vehicle. We also look at a hopped-up Honda Grom, a blown Ducati Monster S4, a Fantic Caballero Rally 500 scrambler, and a chance to own a Aprilia Moto 6.5… if you really want to. Royal Enfield Interceptor by deBolex Engineering Our friends at deBolex have been hard at work fulfilling orders for their dB25 series of custom Ducati Monsters. But shop founder Calum Pryce-Tidd still managed to carve out time to accompany Malle London on their Great Malle Mountain Rally recently. Calum w ..read more

Retro chic: Slipstream’s Honda CB360 scrambler

The custom scene is scattered with craftspeople that do more than just build awesome motorcycles. James Fawcett is a prime example. As Slipstream Creations he makes furniture, paints bicycle frames, does ad-hoc welding and fabrication jobs, and even upcycles spark plugs to create coat racks. He also finds time to build custom motorcycles like this delightful Honda CB360 street scrambler. Thanks to James’ extensive skillset and can-do attitude, he does everything from his workshop in St. Louis, Missouri—right down to paint, powder-coating and upholstery. So other than some part-time help from ..read more

We kick this weekend’s edition of Speed Read off with two very different BMW K100 customs. Then we bring you a Yamaha Virago, a 250 cc BMX-Cub hybrid, and the world’s first flying motorcycle. BMW K100 by Jerem Motorcycles Jérémie Duchampt has a knack for building svelte café racers out of bikes with massive power plants. This time he’s worked his magic on one of the chunkiest motors out: the BMW K100. There’s a sense of mechanical aggression here, thanks to Jérémie’s choice of bodywork. The stock fuel tank is still in play, but it’s been subtly repositioned. Out back is a custom made tail se ..read more

Hometown Hero: A Yamaha SR150 Scrambler from Taiwan
Bike EXIF | Scrambler

Yamaha’s beloved SR has come in an array of sizes over the years, all closely resembling each other. Of all of them, the SR150 is an outlier. The now-defunct single was manufactured in Taiwan exclusively for the Taiwanese market, with a few visual differences from its Japanese cousins. Even though the SR150 didn’t quite have the same timeless vibe as the rest of the range, it still sold like hot cakes. Since it was built locally, it incurred less sales tax—so it was cheap and readily available. Rough Crafts frontman Winston Yeh’s first bike was a second-hand Yamaha SR150, and it cost him just ..read more

Rare Bird: A 1970 Sportster XLH Turned Desert Sled
Bike EXIF | Scrambler
by Kurt Spurlock
1y ago
You’ll find no shortage of custom Harleys on builder Kento Oketani’s home streets of Long Beach. But you won’t find anything quite like his 1970 Harley-Davidson Sportster XLH. You might not know what to make of it at first glance—but once you understand how this desert sled came to be, the pieces start falling into place. See, Kento took inspiration from an unlikely source: a custom 1956 pre-unit Triumph that his friend imported from the US to Japan, back in the early 2000s. Kento says the bike was a rare find—an authentic custom show build from the early 60s that had survived in incredible c ..read more

Should CCM build this adventure bike concept?
Bike EXIF | Scrambler
by Chris Hunter

If there was an award for tenacity in the motorcycling world, the British company CCM would win it. They’ve been going since 1971, when Alan Clews fired up Clews Competition Machines in Lancashire. And today’s road-going Spitfire model is something of a cult success, powered by a feisty 62 hp 601 cc single based on a Husqvarna design. CCM brought this ADV bike concept to the Malle Mile, and it attracted a lot of attention. With sandy yellow paint worthy of a Camel Trophy Land Rover, it looks like nothing else in the CCM line-up. And the company wants to know if you think they should put it in ..read more

A Triumph Scrambler from a crew that knows Triumph’s modern classics inside out, a Mike Hailwood homage from Japan, a new middleweight twin from Moto Morini, and an electric bike that eschews traditional motorcycle design. Jump in and take your pick. Triumph Scrambler by Tamarit Motorcycles The Spanish whizz-kids at Tamarit are so well-versed in the art of building custom Triumphs, that they can churn them out with their eyes closed. This Triumph Scrambler is proof. It’s loaded with details we’ve seen on previous builds for them—but it’s still a stand-out build. The bike is based on Triumph ..read more

Dusty Smiles: On the ground at the 2022 Malle Mile
Bike EXIF | Scrambler
by Wesley Reyneke

You’ll see anything and everything at the Malle Mile. Vintage dirt bikes, modern classics and customs; new motorcyclists and crusty old bikers; kids and dogs; a superbike with ape hangers and knobbly tires; a drag queen dropping the flag on a drag race in front of a castle. The Malle Mile is one of the most unique events on the calendar, held at one of the most unlikely venues. It’s a frenetic cacophony of petrol, dust, music and enthusiasm—and we were there to take it all in this year. The event is organized by the motorcycle luggage and apparel brand, Malle London. This year marked its eig ..read more

We kick off this week’s compilation with a Honda Dominator from Australia, and finish it off with two electric scooters from Indonesia. Wedged in between are an obscure Japanese BMW lookalike, a two-stroke Yamaha bobber and the holy union of a Buell engine and a Voxan frame. Honda NX650 Dominator by Gasoline Motor Co. This black beauty comes from Gasoline Motor Company in Sydney, Australia. Built for a client in Melbourne, Gasoline sourced a pair of Honda Dominators from a farm in Albury Wodonga. That’s five and a half hours from Sydney—but by the looks of it, it was a worthwhile trip. Usin ..read more

Radicale: A svelte Moto Guzzi V85 TT street scrambler
Bike EXIF | Scrambler

Moto Guzzi doesn’t make too much noise these days, but they do have some gems in their collection. One of these is the Moto Guzzi V85 TT. Sure, it’s not the most exhilarating adventure bike on the market—but it has oodles of character, and charming looks that set it apart. Filippo Barbacane of the Italian workshop Officine Rossopuro is a fan, citing the V85 TT’s no frills design as its biggest drawcard. “It’s a motorcycle dedicated to touring, but without the pursuit of extreme technology and the growing need for horsepower that enthusiasts seem to have,” he says. “I am increasingly convinced ..read more
