Need To Breathe #1

The title Need To Breathe comes from a thought that sometime a small mouthed vessel needs more holes to allow the piece to breathe. Maybe it imparts a certain lightness as opposed to a completely closed shape. I think it works, what do you think? Turned from Mulberry (I am told) it is about 150 mm (6″) dia. The contrast between the heart and the sap wood really adds to the piece. The post Need To Breathe #1 appeared first on Andrew Bourke ..read more

I received a big surprise last week. I received a phone call from a fellow woodturner who had seen a mention of this website in the March edition of the British magazine ‘Woodturning’. I was blown away! Today at our local meeting he showed it to me. Wow, there it was. Thank you ‘Woodturning’ ! Virtually the last of this wood that I have. I had been saving this as I expected the grain to spectacular. All of these are about 50 mm (2″) tall. A nice change to my normal turnings. The post Indian Mahogany ‘Scraps’ appeared first on Andrew Bourke ..read more
