IMO 2020 – REDUCING SULFUR OXIDE EMISSIONS
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) sees 2020 as a year of great change. Last October, IMO announced that they will be implementing a new environmental regulation that will take effect on the first day of the New Year.
Effective January 01, 2020, the new IMO Low Sulfur Regulation requires all sea vessels operating outside of the Emission Control Areas (ECAs) to reduce the sulfur content in their marine fuel oil from 3.5% to 0.5%. This is an important notice to all individuals who have future plans to travel outside of the United States with their firearms. Please be aware there have been recent reports of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol’s (CBP) reluctance to accept completed Forms 4457 for temporary firearms exports. US President Donald Trump and China’s chief trade negotiator, Vice-Premier Liu He, signed phase one of the Economic and Trade Agreement on January 15, 2020.
The deal marks phase one in a two-part negotiation.
The U.S. will reduce the tariffs on list 4(a) to 7.5% and the tariffs on list 4(b) will be suspended. The 25% tariff on lists 1, 2, and 3 will remain in place.

US President Donald Trump is putting back tariffs on industrial metals from Argentina and Brazil and is also considering tariffs up to 100% on French goods. While none of this has been implemented it is something to be aware of if you are importing goods from any of these countries.
