Salisbury Cathedral is delighted to announce that King Charles III has agreed to remain Patron of the Salisbury Cathedral Trust. The recent announcement from Buckingham Palace coincided with the first anniversary of His Majesty’s Coronation.
The Salisbury Cathedral Trust was established in 1984, initially as the Spire Appeal Trust, under the patronage of the then Prince of Wales, to manage fundraising to support necessary repairs to the Spire, Tower and West Front. Since then, the Trust has continued to provide funds for the ongoing repair and maintenance of the Cathedral building.

The chicks, which are around three weeks old, were weighed, measured and fitted with a small metal ring by Nigel Jones from the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), assisted by Tommy Saunders. They have a ring on their right leg (used for tracking and record-keeping) and a larger orange plastic Darvic ring bearing a unique ID on their left leg. Ringing is an important part of the Cathedral’s peregrine project, because it provides the BTO and Cathedral with information as to the ‘secret’ lives of these amazing birds, telling us where they go and what they do.
The four chicks are three males and ..read more

Featuring two huge figurative designs – Angeli Ministrantes (Angels Ministering) and Angeli Laudantes (Angels Praising) by Burne-Jones – that sit within Morris’s elaborate acanthus leaf design that reflects the medieval grisaille or grey painted windows elsewhere in the Cathedra ..read more

During Evensong at Salisbury Cathedral yesterday (Sunday 10 December) two ‘rival’ bishops came face to face in a ceremony that harks back to the Middle Ages. This special service takes place in early December every year.
In keeping with tradition, as the service unfolded The Right Rev Stephen Lake, Bishop of Salisbury, ‘handed over’ his diocese and throne to 13-year-old Harry Mills, symbolically relinquished his staff, mitre and cope. Then ‘Bishop’ Harry assumed the symbols of the bishop’s office (the Chorister Bishop’s robe, mitre, staff and ring) and took his place in the Cathedra (or bishop ..read more
