The communities of Vaterstetten, Grasbrunn, Haar, and Zorneding in Bavaria, Germany, all located east of Munich, have officially founded a new company called Geo Energie München Ost (GEMO) to work on an inter-communal geothermal heating project. Municipal utility company Stadtwerke Münster will be conducting a detailed 3D seismic survey in the the city of Münster in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany to better characterize the geothermal potential in the region. Kenya’s state-owned geothermal developer Geothermal Development Company has signed a 20-year supply deal agreement with Karsan Ramji and Sons (Karsan Ramji), the manufacturer of Ndovu Cement. GDC will provide 40 tonnes per hour of steam from which the cement maker will generate power using a 4-MW wellhead generation unit. Karsan Ramji will also use heat from geothermal for a drying unit with a capacity of 700 tonnes per day. The U.S. Department of Energy (US DOE) has published the results of a study done by the Lawrence Berkey National Laboratory quantifying the domestic lithium resources from the geothermal brine in the Salton Sea region in California. Google has announced that the 3.5 geothermal power project co-developed with Fervo Energy in northern Nevada in the US has officially started supplying power to the local grid. This grid also happens to supply the data centers of Google in Nevada. The geothermal power facility in Nevada is the full-scale EGS pilot of Fervo Energy.
