The game may have been played amidst a heatwave, but it was Gabriel Jesus who was on fire as he netted twice on his home debut to help beat Leicester City in a topsy-turvy encounter. The Brazilian striker opened his account for us with two goals in the opening 45; the first a sumptuous piece of play that saw him chip the ball into the top corner from inside the area, before he nodded in from close range 13 minutes later to put us in control. And despite a Wiliam Saliba own goal halving the deficit, we bounced back within two minutes thanks to Granit Xhaka, and repeated the trick again wh ..read more

A Gabriel Martinelli header and a late Marc Guehi own goal ensured that we got our Premier League campaign off to the perfect start as we claimed a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian headed home on 19 minutes after a well-worked corner routine, but despite a solid opening 45 minutes, we were forced to absorb plenty of Palace pressure after the restart, and had Aaron Ramsdale to thank for keeping us in front who made a couple of excellent saves to deny Odsonne Edouard and Eberechi Eze. However, our defence held firm and victory was sealed six minutes from time when Bukayo Saka’s ..read more

We moved into the top four with a hard-fought win at Watford on Sunday in a rollercoaster of a game at Vicarage Road. After the drama of our last Premier League clash some 10 days earlier against Wolves, Mikel Arteta would have been after a more serene affair this time around. But his heart would have been in his mouth when, 19 seconds into the match, Emmanuel Dennis raced behind our defence and beat Aaron Ramsdale to seemingly open the scoring. The assistant referee’s flag spared us from an early concession though. But a blockbuster opening to the match saw us take the lead minutes later as ..read more

Arsenal completed a dramatic late comeback to earn three points in a frantic encounter with in-form Wolves. Despite raining the shots in throughout the 90 minutes, Hwang Hee-Chan's first-half strike had looked to be decisive for a resolute Wolves side - until our late turnaround. With 10 minutes remaining Substitute Nicolas Pepe spun and finished well inside the box to draw us level. But more drama was to follow. As the game entered injury-time (added on due to Wolves' earlier time-wasting) captain Alexandre Lacazette fired in off the keeper at the near post to send the Emirates ..read more

Second-half goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka were enough to seal another important victory on Saturday as we beat Brentford to keep the heat on in the hunt for the top four. With the results of our rivals mainly going our way of late, we knew a win here was imperative – and the way we started underlined that. We immediately asserted our dominance and didn’t take the foot off the pedal throughout the first half, although we didn’t have anything to show for it. With the electric Martin Odegaard pulling the strings, we spent the opening 45 minutes camped in the Brentford half ..read more

Gabriel's first half goal was enough to give ten-man Arsenal a potentially crucial win at Wolves.   The defender ended our four-game scoreless streak with a close range finish from a corner, but the hard work was done after we were reduced to ten min 20 minutes from time.   Gabriel Martinelli was the man dismissed, for two identical offences within the space of a few seconds.   But after that our defence stood firm in the face of sustained pressure from the home side, and earned a victory to move us up to fifth place in the league.     The opening 20 minutes w ..read more

We were held to a goalless draw by an obdurate Burnley side on a frustrating afternoon in N5 on Sunday Mikel Arteta was looking for a response from his side after our Carabao Cup semi-final defeat in midweek, but we found it tough going against an organised and disciplined Clarets team.   Aaron Ramsdale was the first of the two keepers to be called into action, making a smart save to turn away a Dwight McNeil cross that deflected towards goal, before Ben Mee hooked a shot from the resulting corner over the bar.   With the visitors getting men behind the ball in numbers, it w ..read more

Picture and Report by Arsenal.com A thoroughly dominant first-half performance laid the platform for an excellent away win at Leeds. Gabriel Martinelli netted twice and Bukayo Saka was also on target in a mesmerising opening 45 minutes, in which we mustered 11 shots on target - the most in a single first half of Premier League football since 2003/04. Leeds rallied briefly in the second half, scoring from the penalty spot, but Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench to net his seventh Premier League goal of the season late on to seal the three points. There were signs of what was to come from the ..read more

We moved into the top four on Wednesday after goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe wrapped up an impressive win against West Ham United. Having cruised past Southampton last time out, it was no surprise to see Mikel Arteta name an unchanged side as we looked to build on the momentum we built up there. We certainly came flying out of the blocks, the intensity shown the team only matched by that of the fans in a packed Emirates Stadium. But in a first half of few clear-cut chances, we posed the more threat – although it was West Ham who first went close as Pablo Fornals bent ..read more
