Eva & Rebecca  I work for a natural foods store and I run the Green Team there. I wanted to share with you one of the tactics I've employed to reduce plastic use in the store. I made some signage with my friend/co-worker Rebecca Miller in an attempt to reduce plastic-bag use in both the produce and bulk departments. I told my close friend Tatiana Burdiak from I GO TOPLESS about my signage ideas, and she shared with me a Plastic - Free Produce Campaign by Anita Horan in Australia. How awesome is that! Green minds think alike.  I posted photos of the signage we made on insta ..read more

The Tea Industry's Dirty Little Secret
Kind Planet | Circular Lifestyle

How do you take your tea? With cream, sugar, carcinogenic chemcials or plastic? Packaged tea. When I first started Circular Living, I switched to organic loose leaf tea bought in bulk to cut out the single-use packaging, chemicals and plastic. Yes, the majority of tea bags contain plastics and/or chemicals. So, every time we make tea, we are most likely steeping toxins and then drinking them. This is the tea industry's dirty little secret, because it's not disclosed on their product packaging. We look at organic packaged tea and think "YES, this is so healthy;" however, with a littl ..read more

Fat Bombs
Kind Planet | Circular Lifestyle

When I wake up, I do two things to stabilize my blood sugar. I drink 8 oz. of water and also eat something within the first 90 minutes of waking and before consuming any caffeine (Matcha Latte). I'm not a huge breakfast eater, and I don't like eating early in the morning, so I need to make something bite sized and packed with nutrients that's easy for me to eat, even when I don't feel like it. Hello Fat Bombs! Drinking matcha & eating fat bombs.  Gimme. all. the. fats. Remember when fats were considered the worst, and everything was non-fat, or low fat? While some sources of fat ..read more

Matcha Latte

Lately I've been upping the Matcha content in my daily routine. While I'd been adding it to my smoothies and making face masks out of it for years, I only consumed it as a drink a couple times a month. My boyfriend says I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I still have about one cup a day, which can leave my tummy feeling crummy, dehydrate me, and stress the sh** out of my adrenal glands. So, by saying "no thank you" to coffee, I'm actually saying "yes please," to a healthier and less stressful me. I feel better when I drink Matcha! Plus its got tons of benefits to boot. I've come ..read more

Menstrual Cup: Go With The Flow

Public Cervix Announcement I've been using the Lunette menstural cup for over two years, and I'm happy to report that me and my female anatomy have never been happier. While some might consider menstruation an innapropriate topic to discuss, periods are a part of life, and I believe there is no shame in bleeding and talking about it openly. Break the period taboo!  Before the cup, I used tampons. Sometimes they were the organic and non-bleached ones, but mainly I used an unscented one with a plastic applicator, because they were easier to insert. I'm excited to share with you how I ..read more

Tushy: Bidet Attachment

A large part of the world knows what's up when it comes to having a clean butt, and they have been washing instead of wiping for ages. When I lived in India and Europe, that was how I rolled. The United States does not practice smart bathroom hygiene, which means that the majority of us are walking around with dirty anuses, and that's not a comforting thought. Our bathroom habits are actually extremely wasteful, from using gobs of bleached toilet paper made form trees, to flushing our toilets every time we pee, which wastes a poop ton of water. Circular Living is a journey not ..read more

Aloe Vera Shaving Gel
Kind Planet | Circular Lifestyle

It's here! Finally a shaving gel that's made from simple non-toxic ingredients and isn't packaged in plastic! My legs have seriously never been smoother- I'm hooked. I got all these free aloe leaves from the grocery store where I work, because they were a little brown on the ends, so I decided to experiment with them, and I'm so glad I did! Shaving with aloe vera has also helped prevent razor burn, as well as rehydrate my skin.  Buy Sensibly  If you don't have access to aloe vera leaves, I urge you not to use a plastic-packaged aloe vera gel. Most aloe vera gels are not pure an ..read more

Laundry Detergent Powder

Let's do some laundry Circular Living style! I love boycotting chemical companies and making my own laundry detergent powder instead. Conventional detergents are downright toxic. Do you know what quarternium-15 is? I didn't either, until I looked it up. It's a cleaning agent added to laundry detergent that releases formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. This is just one example of the "laundry" list of chemicals in the majority of detergents. See what I did there?! Laundry list....Ok, but seriously, how was I so trusting of these huge companies that obviously don't give two shits about people ..read more

Laundry Softener

It's time to collectively ditch toxic conventional fabric softeners and dryer sheets! Fabric softeners are often packaged in plastic, and dryer sheets are single-use (anything you use once, and then toss in the trash). Both of these can contain synthetic fragrances, phthalates (used two disperse the scent), horrifying preservatives and colorants, and quaternary ammonium compounds (which make your clothes feel soft). If we use toxic laundry detergents, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets, those chemicals get absorbed by our skin when we put our "clean" clothes on. These chemicals also ..read more

Multi-Purpose Scouring Scrub

I used to buy crazy toxic products to clean my bathroom and kitchen counters, which affected my health and the health of the planet. My simple non-toxic 3 ingredient scouring scrub works like a charm, is affordable, and takes 2 minutes to make. I use it to deep clean the shower/bathtub, toilet, sinks, and anything that is tiled and has grout.  Buy Sensibly  I get aluminum-free baking soda from the bulk section package-free by bringing my own jar. If you do not have access to bulk foods, opt for baking soda that's packaged in cardboard over plastic. Some baking soda companies test on ..read more
