Prime Conditions for Drama Down the Stretch Ripping winds, sloped greens, and the tightest field in DGPT history – we had all the ingredients for a nail-biter at the 2024 Jonesboro Open. Going into the final round of MPO, six players were within two strokes of the lead. In the end, it all came down to hole 18.  Team Innova’s Calvin Heimburg took 2nd place, his fifth consecutive year taking either 1st or 2nd at Jonesboro. Disc Golf’s Rising Stars The 2024 College Disc Golf National Championship showcased the top rising talent in our sport. From wire-to-wire wins to multi-hole playoffs, every division had exciting storylines well worth watching. It was a weekend of firsts for College Disc Golf. 5 FPO Events, 5 Unique Winners Last weekend’s Texas State Disc Golf Championships continued an electric start to the 2024 DGPT season. The FPO had their fifth unique winner through five events, putting to bed any thoughts of single-player dominance this season. The MPO had two players shoot rounds rated over 1100.  Team Innova had a solid weekend in both divisions. Ohn Scoggins secured another podium finish after going into the final round tied for the lead. Team Innova has Five New Major Champions!  The 2024 United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship (USWDGC), the first PDGA Major of the year, took place last weekend in Round Rock, Texas. Team Innova had quite the showing, taking home five age-protected Major titles, as well as 2nd place in FPO and FP40. Team Innova is on Fire Ohn Scoggins just made disc golf history, setting the new record for the highest ever FPO event rating at a PDGA tournament! She won last weekend’s Open at Austin by 11 strokes, the largest margin of victory at an Elite event of the past three seasons. The Winningest Player in Pro Disc Golf History Brian “Schwebby” Schweberger has made professional disc golf history, becoming the first athlete to reach 400 PDGA Pro wins!  For most top players, there is a moment or season that defines their career – a lights-out round, a big win, or a dominant year or two. Fireworks at First DGPT+ of 2024 Waco always brings the fireworks and this year was no exception. The FPO and MPO divisions both got off to compelling starts with multiple lead changes throughout the first three rounds. In the MPO, seven players went into the final day within two strokes of the lead. Team Innova had athletes in the mix for the win of both divisions.
