June 2018:  We have peaked. Welcome to my favourite time of year.  We celebrate the festival of Litha (summer solstice) on June 21st, the longest day, when the sun is at its highest in the sky and we can hopefully enjoy a full day of sunshine.  The sun moves into my own sun sign of cancer around this time too, so I really do feel full of energy and power and at my peak so to speak. A few days ago (as I’m writing this) Liverpool  lost someone who was a much loved family member:  a mother, a wife, a daughter and a Nan, from the awful disease that is cancer.  It is ..read more

May 2018- Nam Myoho Renge Kyo First of all Happy Beltane!  I talk at length about the Wiccan festival of Beltane in my May column from last year (2017), but in brief it is held at the beginning of May and marks the joining together of male and female energies, heralded by the climax of Spring.  It’s a time for celebrating the differences between the sexes, a time of procreation and fertility and rejoicing the sun which is now high in the sky and enabling our crops to grow ready for harvest in August. (Lammas).  If you live somewhere that still celebrates May Day with the old ..read more

March 2018 I Do Believe In Miracles

March 2018 I do believe in Miracles. So Spring is literally around the corner, with the official spring equinox occurring on March 20th at 16.15 when the sun moves into Aries.  Days and nights are of equal length although it’s the start of the lightest half of the year, and the sun is returning!  Mind you, as I write gazing out the window at the fresh snow which has covered the ground outside, it doesn’t seem possible that spring is only a few weeks away. By the end of the month we will be looking back and remembering with surprise that early march was a time of Siberian temperatu ..read more

February 2018 – Healing and moving forward In terms of Wicca at the beginning of February we celebrate the festival of Imbolc which is seen as a time of purification and readiness for the growing light of the sun which will gain momentum as we head towards the clocks changing in March and thus longer days at last!  Like the new buds unfurling out of the dark wintery earth, we too are emerging slowly from our hibernation and brushing ourselves down ready to greet the onset of spring and our ‘rebirth’. I want to share with you an experience of Starseed Healing which I had yesterday at my ..read more

Relinquish Control- January 2018

January 2018- Relinquish control I’ve been thinking a lot about what to write about for this month’s column.  I wanted to avoid the usual ‘resolution’ stuff as sometimes that all gets a bit boring and predictable.  I’m not going to suggest that you write ‘new year resolutions’ this year, for what you are going to achieve this year is so much more than just ticking a load of things off a list, or crossing off the ones you didn’t do.  It’s going to be part of the bigger picture.  I remember last January asking you to do a resolution star.  Did you do this?  It wa ..read more

December 2017 – Things are not always what they seem! I want to share a little story with you this month about things not always being what they seem.  When we were on holiday in May I got bitten very badly by some sort of insect, I didn’t see what the nasty little thing was as I had obviously sat on him/her and the bite was on my derriere!  It really was horrible and I kept putting anti histamine cream on it over the holiday but thought not much more of it.  Eventually it went thank goodness.  Cut to a few months later, end of August, on holiday again, and I couldn’t bel ..read more

November 2017 - Open Your Ears

November 2017 – Open Your Ears The 1st of November is seen in the Wiccan calendar as our New Year’s Day (Halloween/Samhain being our ‘New Year’s Eve’), it is also known as All Saints Day when the Anglican and Catholic churches honour the saints and martyrs from days gone by.  For many Wiccans the festival of Samhain crosses over from the 31st October to November the 1st, sadly for most of us it will just be another day at work, or clearing up after a Halloween party for the kids!  One thing I would say is take a note of the dreams you had on the night of Samhain (31 October/1 Novem ..read more

October 2017 -  Seek and ye shall find........ I had a wonderful dream the other night.  I dreamt I was flying around outside.   I could feel  the cool night air flowing through my hair, the leaves on the trees touching my skin gently as I zoomed past them.  They were very brown, crispy oak leaves about to fall from the trees and I felt so very powerful and liberated.  How vivid dreams can be, and yet when we wake,  the concept of flying through the night sky on a broomstick seems totally incongruous, in spite of having felt so real.  Why should ..read more

September 2017 -  Honouring your dark side On the 22nd September we celebrate the Wiccan Festival of Mabon, also known as Autumn Equinox. At 21.01 on this date the sun enters the sign of Libra; there is perfect equilibrium between daylight and night.  It is no accident that likewise Libra is known as the sign of balance, symbolised by the scales.  Mabon or ‘Autumn Equinox’ is also known as the second harvest.  The first harvest was celebrated in August (Lammas), notably a time of plenty when the sun was high in the sky and we were rewarded for all our hard work, and enc ..read more

August - Harvesting Karma

August- Harvesting Karma On the first of August we celebrate Lammas (literally loaf mass)  also known as Lughnasa. This is the pagan festival which symbolises the gathering in of the first harvest.    I know we always think of harvest time as September, and of course the harvest continues to be reaped throughout august and September, but Lammas is signifying the very firstharvest.  So the first crop of corn is gathered and ground to make bread which is then shared amongst the villagers, thus the term 'loaf mass'.  Wicca follows the seasons closely and celebrate ..read more
